Tamar | 17 comments Here's what i remember about this book:
1) the main character was a guy in his early-middle-age
2) there is a medical van that randomly grabs people off the street and performs invasive health checks. Whoever fails gets incinerated
3) the president of the US is a teenager
4) the only hope for the main character is to escape across the border to Canada

Thanks in advance!!!

Jillian (jilliangs) | 48 comments A possible long shot: Logan's Run (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/73...) depicts a society run by teenagers in which anyone over 21 is killed, initially because of overpopulation concerns. The main character has just reached the age limit and decides to flee the system that he has served all his life. I don't remember Canada or medical vans though (since everyone just has an implant that measures their age). Like everyone else on this thread I hope you find this book since it sounds interesting and at least similar to Logan's Run, which was a great read.

Tamar | 17 comments Thanks for the post Jillian. I don't think the book was Logan's Run since I don't remember anything about a flower changing color. Looks like Logan's Run is worth a read though!

April Ann (bloomer) | 515 comments When do you think it may have been published? Does it address overpopulation? What is the main character doing? Is he an investigator, Scientist, carpenter?

April Ann (bloomer) | 515 comments Sins of the Fathers by Will Cunningham
What about Sins of the Fathers by Will Cunningham?
Summary: In the United States of the year 2038, citizens over fifty are terminated for "the greater good" to contain health care costs. Life has little value and love has lost all meaning. Into this bleak setting steps John Nash, a government agent committed to hunting down those who avoid their termination dates and whose own father is about to turn fifty. Risking his life and career, Nash contacts an underground escape network to save his long-estranged father. While eluding government forces, Nash must grapple with issues of forgiveness and love, and eventually the heart and will of God.

Tamar, what's the genre (which we need to add to the header/topic title) - e.g., YA dystopian, science fiction?

Around what year did you read this book? A range of years is fine.

message 23: by Tamar (new)

Tamar | 17 comments YA I think, I read it in the 90's.

message 24: by Tamar (new)

Tamar, I added a few details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Glad you found your book, Tamar. I moved your request to a Solved folder by clicking the small "edit" link after the header/topic title. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app.
