Oh, I forgot. I was going to comment on the whiskers on the otter too. You got them just right! Isn't it great when "what you take away" makes it picture perfect?
I really like the goldfinch, especially the work you did on the tummy feathers. I was parked at the edge of a shopping center parking lot on Sunday afternoon and there was a whole flock of black capped chickadees cavorting in the hedge looking for bugs. They are my favorite.

I can imagine the pleasure the pleasure that will bring you in years to come. It's a tresure!

This is the most amazing thing ever, Peggy! I have always wanted to do that but I am so tired and dead by the end of each trip day. Oh, I miss those cute stamps in Japan. :)

@Sarah: Yes, I did! It was a bit more work than I expected though (with the colouring of the dates and looking up the exact names or some info on places we visited, or making small drawings) and sometimes it felt a bit like another thing I had to do before I could relax (even though it was relaxing to do), but I think that also has to do with the fact that we had such busy days in Japan as there was so much to see and do. So I totally understand Pragya! And it took up time I would otherwise spend reading, so that cost me an extra book I could have finished this year ;-)
But I plan on doing it for all our big trips from now on. Generally we take it a lot easier than we did this year. And I'll buy a thinner journal next year, as I used up only about 1/3 of it. That's a shame, as this line of journals is so beautiful!

Kudos to you for wanting to continue. I think I should take inspiration from you. :D

Margo, I don't find it very difficult, it just takes a lot of time because I'm super slow ;-) although not 1.5 years usually, but 1-2 months. It's only one type of stitch for these animals.
I just tried it and my first animal looked a bit messed up (some mistakes, uneven stitches), but then I knew my mistakes and the second one was much better! Watching some youtube tutorials, starting with something small and using good yarn (cotton) helps :)

I think I'll put it somewhere in the living room, and when my nephew comes and he sees it and wants to play with it, he can take it home ;-)

You've inspired me! I will find a tutorial!

You can set it to English. These are some of the designer's free patterns (also translated to English) for small animals, and I think especially the bear, cat and bunny are easy to start with.

I'm sure he will love it. :)

Margo - there are plenty of patterns for kitchen wash cloths, and things to start out with using the cotton thread. I used to make them all of the time. I hope you have fun with your pot holders.

I assigned names to all the animals. The cow is Sugar (note the sugar skulls on the fabric). The sheep is Curly. The pig is Daisy. Old Yeller, Blue and Sammy (from the Rat Pack) is on top.

Cute! I always mean do do one of these but somehow that kind of project always get pushed aside in favor of another one.
Also, Ravelry is also a good source for pattern. Probably the largest database online.
