message 654: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Aww they are both great. The voodoo pincushion? And the cookie monster.. I love. Where did you get the pattern for him?

message 655: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Love them both, CFDeeDee.

message 656: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee @Sarah not sure about the cookie monster .. I have it copied from somewhere .. And the voodoo I got it after looking at some voodoo ideas on google with slight changes in the eyes.

@Janice Thank you ;D

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Great work CFDeeDee!

message 660: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments CFDeeDee - love both, but what I really want to know is who is represented by that voodoo doll? ☺

message 661: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Sarah wrote: "Jmom, would you like me to make one if you message me on here with the colours you'd ..."

I'll see what colors are currently her favorite.

message 662: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee @Cherie Thanks ;)

message 663: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee @J'sMom You mean who suggested the voodoo doll or who had the pattern?
I thought of it myself lol ^^"
And the pattern was from google images :P

message 664: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments It's a great pattern! What I actually meant was who does the voodoo doll represent, as in who are you mentally sticking that pin in? ☺

message 665: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments jaxnsmom wrote: "I'll see what colors are currently her favorite."

Okie dokie =]

message 666: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee @J'smom LOL .. I won't do a voodoo doll over someone, that'll be too easy to torture people around haha ;P

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments It only took me 9 years to finish this. Although the top was finished in 2007, it was finally quilted. I sewed the binding on it this weekend. Done!

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Looks great, Janice. Glad you finished. Is it for you?

message 669: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Hooray for you Janice! I really like that pattern.

message 670: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Thanks. :) Yes, I will keep it. I'll put it on the bed for the summer. The one I currently have on the bed will be my winter quilt.

The pattern is called "Wish Upon a Star".

message 671: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Love the quilt Janice. I need a retreat to finish mine.

message 672: by Susan (new)

Susan Congratulations on finishing your quilt Janice. It is beautiful :)

message 673: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Thanks Sarah & Susan.

I need a few more retreats, Sarah. I'm itching to start something new. Problem is, I just started something new. Plus, I have 8 tops waiting to be quilted and bound.

message 674: by Susan (new)

Susan Haha Janice you beat me! I have 4 quilt tops waiting to be sandwiched.

message 675: by Sarah (last edited May 19, 2016 06:59AM) (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Ooh I really like the Janice =] it's lovely

message 676: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Thanks Sarah.

Hurry up, Susan. You're getting behind. :) One of my friends has 21 tops. She figures it's going to cost her a small fortune to get quilted. Do you do your own quilting, or do you have someone with a long arm do them? I try to do the smaller ones myself, but I'm not very good at doing them.

message 677: by Susan (new)

Susan I do the quilting myself on my domestic machine. I've just finished an online course in using rulers for free motion quilting, so no excuse now, got to get on with finishing them.

message 678: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Lovely work, Janice .. Never thought a quilt would take such a long time to finish !

message 679: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments That course sounds interesting, Susan. Do you have a link for the website?

Thanks CFDeeDee. Generally, quilts don't take 9 years to make. That quilt top was started in 2007 and finished in 2007. Then it sat in my cupboard until two months ago when a couple friends insisted I get it quilted. The time involved depends on the complexity and size of the quilt. It also depends on how much time you spend sewing. Some people I know sew at least an hour every day. Lately, I've been sewing only at retreats - so 3-4 days, once or twice a year.

message 680: by Susan (new)

Susan Hi Janice, I can highly recommend this course

http://www.punchwithjudy.com.au/shop/...

You can do it at your own pace, and Judy is very supportive in helping with everyone's questions.

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Thanks Susan. I watched the YouTube video and it looks really interesting.

message 682: by Trudy (new)

Trudy (trudyan) | 1779 comments Beautiful quilt, Janice, and such lovely colours! I read it snowed (!) today in your neck of the woods, so you may have to wait a bit longer to use it.

message 683: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments We had snow yesterday but it's all cleared away now. Some areas around us got a lot more. Crazy! But I`ll take the moisture any ways it comes. It`s been so dry.

Thank you =] I am keen to do some other cardigans and things now, I found a cute little dress/top with little leggings to make that look adorable, so will ahve to make them at some point. I'm currently finishing off a baby blanket and making a baby mobile. My friend's baby is coming up to 6 month now and her christening is the end of July so hopefully I'll have them both done before then *fingers crossed*
