I made a doughnut pincushion hehe =]

I've just finished making a hat/beret. It was a practice attempt, so starting on the proper one now.

Hehe I love it. I was going to use some beans but I had some left over fiber-fill stuffing so just used that... quite a bit actually, it's quite a fat doughnut =P As it's so soft the pins can stick through the bottom a bit, so I just angled them slightly and it seemed to do the trick. That's interesting, I suppose they could keep the pins sharp on shells yes. But yes I wouldn't want oily pins, I think there is oil in them cuz they provide omega 6 or 3 can't remember which.

Lots of talent in this group :-). I am loving your quilt Janice; the colours are so pretty on the white background.
Sarah, that doughnut pincushion is inspired - love it!

Wow, Janice, I love your quilt. It's like stained glass windows. Really breath-taking!!

My grandmother used to use sand in her pin cushions. She said it kept the needles sharp. (Not beach sand, though, which I think is half cigarette ash and bird poo.)

I taught myself mostly through youtube videos. I got into it when I found a magazine subscription a few months ago and been learning the stitches through that to make a big throw (It's 120 issues woah so a long way to go yet). And I just brought a crafting kit to make the monkey. After that I went online and searched specifically for what I wanted to make. I used Ravelry and YouTube mostly =]

o.O
you need better beaches!

What is sand if not beach sand? Hmm...

My grandmother used to get the sand- which is probably sand from a beach- from the garden center. I'm pretty sure they clean it because people get mad if the sand/soil they buy has seeds, bacteria, that interfere with plant growth.

Great job, you."
Thanks =]
There is so much online and I found quite a few beginner videos, I've learnt to read basic patterns now so I found found places like individual blogs where they post a written pattern which I can now understand and follow. The tricky part is coverting to different stitches, as US and UK terms are different. SO that can be a bit confusing.

A little miniature pig for my grandma.. I love his tail

My blue beret I showed before, I'm not sure beret's suit me.. what do you think?

And the new hat I made yesterday, is more like a slouchy beanie, I like this one the most.

Love the little piggy! So cute!

I taught myself crocheting too, and knitting (with a little of help from my MIO), but I've never done something so complex and beautiful like your monkey and pig. I prefer knitting, to be honest, mostly because I do it better. My oldest daughter is good at crocheting, but last thing she did was a year ago.

I miss my crochet ! Guess will finish my project soon !
Everyone's projects are wonderful. This is my first time seeing this thread, guess I need to catch up!
I myself crochet. I have 3 projects I am working on. An afghan, a bunny for my DD and a dry bones from Mario for my son. I will have to post a picture.

Now my bf would like a giraffe hehe =]
I love the white hat too, I'm going to make that in cream soon, I shall most likely start it this week. And a scarf and a cowl are next on my list to make.
@Stephanie: If you'd like I can link you to some crochet vids that I found for beginners?
@Joan: This time we were in the balcony and they had seats so I ran to a seat right at the front, otherwise we're in the standing section and don't get the greatest view of the bands. I've seen 'The Subway's standing up and that was good it was on a boat called 'The Thekla' in Brisol, UK, very small venue and I just basiclaly sway and nod my head haha.
Last night was a heavy metal band called 'Megadeth'. It was sold out so was packed. With what happened on Friday with Paris and the 'Eagles of Death Metal' band it was a bit worrying and they were even more thorough with the patting down and searching people and bags on the doors and closed the doors up afterwards. There was loads more security too. I think a lot of people there perhaps didn't enjoy it as much as they could. I bobbed my knee mostly and nodded my head, can't really get into it sitting down that's the downfall of the seats, yet the downfall of standing, is that after 3 bands and the main band is due your feet ache.
@DeeDee and Kelly B: I'm sure we'd all love to see your projects. I look forward to seeing anything from Mario =P

This one is what I'm doing throught my magazine, it is UK terms though, but for anyone else interested: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

I hope that'll help for now.

You can get various sizes, and shapes an even googly eyes as well as different colours.

Momma is already challenged with 3 triplet babies. So I don't need to add more to her challenge is my feeling.

I made a tea cozy - actually I was given a hat too small for my head but it fit my tea pot perfectly.

Yes, when they don't immediately put everything into their mouths.
Now to get started!!

My attempts to crochet my first granddaughter a hat were used as toilet paper roll covers by her mother. She always hated them. Her youngest son is the only one who ever wore or appreciated any of the hats I made. He still wears them.

Aaaawww!
