How is it going with your paperwhite?

I think it's a good compromise - it's the one kindle that works in all lighting conditions, from bright sunlight to pitch black. It's very slow and laggy though (as are all e-ink readers), so personally, I tend to use it primarily where it's betters suited, in daylight, or where the risk of damage is greater (cheaper to replace than my iPad...)
I'm really enjoying my Paperwhite now.I like how just a tap on the word gives me the dictionary and highlighting is also just a mere touch away.Page turns are so seamless and no splotches on the screen here though as mentioned previously there is a shadow at the bottom of the page but it doesn't affect the reading experience.I now have the official cover and the opening and closing mechanism is awesome.
I have also heard Tim that Waterstones are going to give their users some addditional benifits so m aybe i can put up with their screensaver(don't have to look at it anyway now I have the cover) HeHeHe!
I still use my kk but i have to remember to push the button to turn a page.I have a pink mark on my screen but i don't notice it when reading, so don't know what all the fuss is about.
No Tim I'm afraid I don't know. Someone was complaining about the Waterstone screensaver over on the Amazon forum and that is what they were told. I still have the blog so if I see any offers I will pass them on to you.
Is there a general consensus on the best case to get?!I'm getting one next week (to replace my battered KK) and I don't really wanna pay 30quid for a case I could get for cheaper. The only reason I have an official one now is due to the light.
Goodreads just ate my comment!£&%#$
Lets try that again...
They were selling cases for them at tesco but I didn't look at the prices or colours or nuttin. Sorry.
Oberon. Dunno if they're doing cases for paperwhites but GL has a GORGEOUS cover from them.
I haven't read every post so forgive me if it's been asked, but is there any way to completely turn off the light? This is the only part where I think it falls down compared to my kindle keyboard.
Geoff and I have googled and it seems all you can do is turn it down, not off.Is it much of a niggle, Mark?
It was something I was quite worried about. My eyes get irritated easily so I wanted to make sure it wouldn't make me sick. I felt it more to be like a glow in the dark type thing more than a light. I sat like a idiot with my coat around my head trying out the light and then looked at in the bright store light. I didn't think there was much use in changing it, although it does darken to a kinda-the-same thing as the normal kindle. It's so epically clearer though. It makes mine look grainy!
I loved my KK, lovely daughter bought me and her Dad a Paperwhite each for Christmas. I love it to bits! I ordered thé official covers on their offer and got the second half price so that was quite a good deal. I have hardly touched my KK since.

There's one area where the Nexus can't beat the Kindle, and that's in sunlight. I know what you're thinking: what sunlight? Well I can tell you, as I've recently repatriated to Australia: the sun is *bright*. Really bright. The glare off my Nexus can, if angled a certain way, take down commercial aircraft.
So I'm hoping the Paperwhite might solve my glare issue. Does it work as advertised? Is it all that? Is the uneven light spread and colour splotches a big issue?
