Corey | 1411 comments 5:01 PM Hey everyone, sorry I've been kind of quiet the past couple days, my Mom had to go to the Hospital late yesterday afternoon, she fell and broke her hip, has two cracked ribs, and fractured her collarbone. She's still in the Hospital and she was supposed to have surgery today to have her hip replaced but her sodium level was down so the doctors are getting some fluids into her and hopefully they'll do the surgery tomorrow. She might have to go to rehab for a couple weeks. I went to see her twice today and I wish I could have stayed with her but she suggested I go home and take care of myself, as much as I hated to leave her because I felt like I was abandoning her, but I know she's in the right place right now. But it just broke my heart to leave her. But if everybody could please send prayers for me and my Mom I'd really appreciate it. And I'll keep everybody posted.

I'm gonna try to get some reading done tonight because last night was pretty rough I couldn't even concentrate on my book, but it really relaxes me, it's like the best medicine.

Mary hopefully you won't have to go through surgery, prayers and hugs to you.

Janelle | 347 comments Corey I know that was hard for you to do. I've had to do that a few years ago to my mom and dad. Its hard. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers. Try and relax some and don't worry. Mom knows how much you love her.

8:57AM My youngest goes to work today and she is freaking herself out about it. It is a first job and all and she is quite nervous, plus she suffers from anxiety. I told her she will be fine and probably 10 min into it she will be fine. So say a little prayer for her.

Corey I know that was probably really hard. It always is to leave our loved ones behind. I am keeping your mom in my thoughts and prayers.

Corey | 1411 comments 8:26 PM Well great news, my Mom's out of surgery and she just woke up, no problems or anything, but she's really sore and tired, which is to be expected. But now we can focus on her recovery. I'm just blessed that the hard part is over, which was the surgery.

Alondra Miller 10:19 p.m. Enjoying this long weekend. Finally able to get in the gardens and do some work. I am sore and can barely move...but I love it! The only thing is, I haven't read anything because I have been too tired. I shall remedy that tonight and tomorrow.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

7:00 AM Wow I have been pretty busy over here with work and also helping Cort and Amy move, It has been super crazy. No time to even read which is sad considering I love to read. *sigh*

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. I of course spent most of it at work. I did go to a cook out at the neighbors and Aeverie got to hunt eggs, so that was fun.

Janelle | 347 comments Happy Easter!

I know how you feel Janie. I'm glad you got to have some fun :-)
I was off on Easter and spent time getting ready for the coming week.
I'm going to try to dedicate at least 10 minutes a day this week to reading. Sometimes very easy ;-)

Dan (dan2345) | 304 comments 12:29 AM EST. Watched Bates Motel tonight. It's always been a crazy show, but now the series is ending, so it's even crazier. It's a great show, I always loved the original movie Psycho. Now after watching the show, I think I'll read the book... Psycho by Robert Bloch

LOL

Kind of an uneventful day today. Didn't feel to well for some reason and car is in the shop. Tomorrow I've got some freelance art work I've got to get done.

Right now, I'm just sittin here reading this book A Passage to Shambhala (The Explorers Guild, #1) by Jon Baird . It's a pretty good book. It's part graphic novel and part novel with book illustrations. Also co-written by Kevin Costner. I didn't even know that guy was a writer in addition to acting. Apparently he's written several other books.

9:41 AM OH how wonderful, I am off today! I have to run some errands with hubby today, but I am hopeful that I will get to read more today!

Janelle it is crazy isn't it trying to find time to read? I understand everyone here now trying to read on breaks and commutes. I guess I took for granted that I could read anytime I wanted. Now...well now I know what it is like not to have that time.

I was kind of in a reading funk for almost two years. In 2015, I didn't read at all. The year before I did the GR reading challenge to read 20 books and I did that. 2015 was a bad year for me...in general. Last year I tried to start getting out of my funk and this year it has been slowly beginning to work.

i hope you enjoy Psycho. I thought the book was pretty good; and with a slight departure in some of the info, than what was in the movie. I like that. I almost liked getting in Normans head too. It 's crazy in there!

Sorry you had such a funk in 2015. Sometimes, books let you down or are middling. I try to run back to what I know. Old, familiar authors, genres; usually do the trick for me.

Good luck, Dan

Even a previous doc I worked for, used to buy medical supplies through there.

1:15PM YAY I am off today (So far so good) So I tried my best to get through Night Film and I could not do it. I got to page 165 I believe it was. I thought sure this would be for me, but UGH it just drags and drags. I guess I wanted more Thriller elements to it. It seemed like there was not much suspense or action or excitement. Sorry to those of you who liked it, but my time is very valuable now, so much so that I would rather not waste it on a book I am not enjoying!

Alondra I am sorry about your slump! I was quickly getting there while reading Night Film and I just put it away and grabbed something else.

12:40AM Another busy day at work. Got home to see that Nash, our Daniff has a swollen ear. He has been scratching his ear for a long time. We have used cleaners, mite treatment and nothing has helped only to lead up to a possible infection. He has to go to the vet tomorrow. Poor Nashers. I am off to bed in a few to get some rest for another long day. Nighters everyone!

7:24 PM EST. Thanks, Janie (did I already thank you yesterday? LOL). Yeah, I was feeling better yesterday, this morning I felt crappy again, but in the afternoon I felt okay. Hope I'm not getting Anemia again like I had last year.

Anyway, did some work today and cleaned around the house earlier before having dinner. Now I'm sitting here reading A Passage to Shambhala.

I just recently started reading monthly comic books again. Last month I picked up The Walking Dead #166 and (view spoiler). And did anyone else hear that Josh McDermitt, the actor who plays Eugene on the TV show just deleted his Twitter and Facebook accounts because of harassment and death threats? This is an example of why I hate and no longer use social media now. Except for GR of course...LOL.

Dan (dan2345) | 304 comments Janie, I'm glad you had a good birthday. Sounds great.

Janie and Corey: Yes, it's just disgusting what the internet has become. I mean, I used to love social media like Facebook and Myspace, etc.

Don't get me wrong, Facebook was still fun about eight years ago! Then it became the ultimate tool of narcissism, and some people started acting like real douchebags (I hope I am allowed to say that word in here, cause this seems like the place where it's just doesn't feel right to curse). Like what happened with Josh McDermitt. And I honestly feel sorry for they guy, I really do.

I try not to go on Facebook anymore, and I've never received any death threats like he has. But I've encountered some absolutely disgusting S--t on there. I'll give you the worst example...

..back in 2014, a guy who I went to high school with posted an obit about his grandfather passing away. And, right hand to the man...JUST FOR THE SAKE OF BEING NICE AND RESPECTFUL....I went and made a comment. And this A--hole came on and said "...people like Dan need to stop trolling on deaths of fb. don't know what his hard on for-blah blah blah....".

He started a fight with me under someone's obituary!!! Everyone else got mad at him though, and he deleted his comment. But still....how disgusting is that???!! That's almost like me going to a funeral and punching someone in the face. I had other occurrences after that on there...not as bad...but they concluded with me to being like "I'm done". And that's the way it's been for over a year and a half now. The only reason I don't just delete my Facebook account, is because sometimes I feel like I need it for networking, or it's something really important and I need to get in touch with someone fast.

I actually miss Myspace because it was so much more fun, also it was a place to discover new music. LOL, sorry if this turned into a rant...I could go on and on about the poisons of social media today, with the way it has changed I mean.

Dan (dan2345) | 304 comments 10:03 PM EST. Trying to get some reading in tonight after a somewhat stressful day.

My cat, who will turn fifteen at the end of this month, has been sick with cancer for about a year and a half now. His sister got cancer after he did and went pretty quick back in November. He was okay for a while there, but he gradually started to get pretty sick over the past few months. He's been living in the basement for a while, and today I had to clean up six piles of cat poop that I found on the floor, not in the litter box. So it's pretty bad now.

And I kind of flipped out on my sister tonight, which is not usually like me. I feel bad about it, even though she can be a b--ch sometimes.

Anyway, didn't mean to be a downer. Just kinda seems like this is a place you can vent, when need be. LOL.

Thanks, Susan. Yeah, it's rough cause he's always been my little buddy, and he almost has the personality of a dog. I don't think I'll feel bad if I have to let him go to keep him from suffering eventually, cause his sister really suffered when she went. I will definatley miss him when he's gone though.
