✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 904 comments Oh no Alondra! Hope it's not a cold! Get well.

11:40 am. Getting laundry done and being a realtime, live navigation system for hubby. I don't think he even knows how to use the one in his car.

Alondra Miller 9:08 a.m. Going to Cracker Barrel for some serious breakfast with friends. I am talking Bacon, Eggs, Pancakes, Grits, and whatever else I can shovel eat.... LOL

ATTENTION: We are starting our year long buddy read of the Harry Potter series, February 1st. I will post the thread and discussion questions this weekend.

We will have 4-6 weeks to read each book.

And yes, we will have to mark spoilers; because there are still folk who haven't read the series, or some of the books. Be mindful and respectful of that.

Take care and TTYL

9:18AM Sitting here reading my friends posts, and will soon be getting ready for my meet up with Susan! Yay! I always enjoy that!

Janelle how are you enjoying the series? Have you started it yet? Let me know what you think!

Alondra I hope you enjoyed your Breakfast and I am looking forward to the HP read along! YAY!

message 13606: by Janelle (new)

Janelle | 347 comments Janie, I read the introduction and it helped me to get a bit more "intimate" with the author. I watched the movie he referenced then it was on from there! I was instantly sucked into the story and I am enjoying it. I'm reading it slow as of now because I have to get the next book and I don't know how long it's going to take for it to arrive :-(

Alondra Miller 2:52 p.m. Barely existing on 3+ hours of sleep, d/t marathon reading. Thank goodness we do not have clinic today.

Almost done with Daughter of Smoke & Bone. If you have not read this series, I highly recommend it. This is based upon just the first book. After reading the first 40 pages; I was hooked and went to my daughters house and snatched the next two in the trilogy.

9:44PM Took our niece Shelby back to school today. It seems so odd not having her here after being here for 3 weeks. Just finished Robert B. Parker's Damned if You Do. It was good. Now I will be starting The Austere Academy, book 5 in the Series of Unfortunate Events. Really been enjoying that series.

Alondra I have read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, I just need to get the other 2 read as well. I am planning on getting them read this year.

Alondra Miller 7:08 p.m. Today was a hard day at the cancer center where I work. I lost a patient over the weekend. They had decided to go to Hospice and refused further treatment due to their prognosis.

I also have 2 that have made the decision for hospice; and one in the hospital. Where I work; I knew what to expect. What I did not expect, was to love and care for my patients like this. To see them scared of the "next" thing, angry with their body, their diagnosis, confused about "how" this happened? It just hit me for a moment, and I had to go in a room.

This is not to bring anyone down; but to let you all know that life is too short, for whatever BS you are allowing to hold you back. Whether you are in toxic relationships, at a horrible job, muddling through life. When you look back, will you be satisfied with what you see. Do not be complacent. Kick the BS aside and LIVE. Love hard, live fully and laugh until your chest hurts.

Alondra Miller 8:27 p.m. Just added two more books to "current reads".... I will usually pick a book up, read the first few pages, to see if it should be my next pick. Problem is, both were and I didn't want to put them down.

Night Film!!! Yes!!
Pandemonium. So far, so good. Veronica and Victor left me in the dust, reading this trilogy. Note that both their names start with V. :/

9:25AM Enjoying Pretty Girls. I as expecting a little more going on, but it is mostly wifey discovering things about hubby, which is good too. Of course the writing is amazing per normal since it is Karin Slaughter. Not her best, but definitely good.

Alondra I have heard a lot of good about Night Film. I need to pick that one up at some point.
