Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 2:53 PM. I got home from my interview about twenty minutes ago. It went really well. I was nervous because I didn't know if they all knew I'm Mark's wife, but they told me when I got there they already knew. Anyways, they said they are going to make a decision quickly, so, we'll see. My sweet husband came home right before I left, so, we are going to go to the store to get some food to cook on the grill. I still need to workout, too!!!

4:30 p.m. and my loving daughter just brought me three cans of chicken noodle soup and a two liter of Sprite.

message 6554: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Aww, how sweet of her Cindy! :-)

message 6555: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, it was. This is a very busy time of day for her and I wasn't even gonna ask her to do anything for me but she took it upon herself anyway. She has four children to care for and two of them get off the bus here in about ten minutes, so it was very sweet of her.

5:52PM Ok so I have not read any more than about 20 pages today. LOL So I think Hub and I are gonna take a walk and then when I get back I will read with some coffee. I would like to have this book done by the 15th. I have so many I wanna read. :/ Not that it is surprising or anything lol.

Kathryn! Yay I am so glad your interview went well! That is awesome! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Cindy that is awesome of your daughter! Take it easy and enjoy your soup!

message 6558: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 6:00 PM. We already have dinner going: a chicken on the smoker with a pasta salad and veggie. I'm hungry and a bit tired, but we have some movies to watch to tonight, plus my daddy is here.

Janie, you're not alone. I haven't read at all today. Lol

Cindy, I hope you feel better! Sending you good thoughts and hugs! *hugs*

message 6559: by [deleted user] (new)

Enjoy your walk Janie and Kathryn I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you although I'm sure you did great and there's really no need.

message 6560: by Rachel (new)

Rachel 758pm-just checking in- I really need to go the bookstore soon- having major bookstore withdrawal lol

Kathryn- glad the interview went well :)

Cindy- hope you feel better soon- fyi if you're feeling dehydrated try to get pedialyte in the house- I know it's for kids but it always helps me when I don't feel well- it's got the electrolytes and it's easier on the stomach than gatorade which bothers some people's stomachs (the grape flavor tastes decent too)

once you open it you have to use it in either 24 or 48 hours (it will say on the cap) and keep it refrigerated.

of course chiken soup always helps too-that was sweet of your daughter :)

7:29PM Had a great walk. I think we walked nearly 2 miles so I feel very relaxed now enjoying my coffee.

Rachel, heh I would not mind some chicken noodle soup right now!

Alondra Miller 10:25pm ET. Just pre-ordered Doctor Sleep, which is the only book and author, I would ever do this for. The horror of pay over $7 for a book, kills me. Ever since finding all those UBSs in Charlotte, I don't pay over $5 for a book.

I also ordered The Twelve, for November buddy-read (even though Veronica is gonna cheat and read ahead.. hehehhe) and I picked up Hercule Poirot #4, which is The Mystery of the Blue Train.

Excited!!!

10:36 p.m. and I've been reading since about 1 p.m. on and off. I really want to finish this book I'm reading but I've been sick and feeling blah. Might have to wait. I'm SLOWLY learning to take better care of myself.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 12:40 AM. WHY ARE WE STILL AWAKE?!? Oh yeah, because we were dumb and rented two movies. I am so sleepy. Gizmo keeps looking at me with a look of, "Momma, can we please go to bed?" I didn't workout today, so I will have to make up for it tomorrow. I'm not too sure of what we will be doing tomorrow, but I hope I get to read. I haven't read anything since Thursday morning. This makes me sad. Anyways, this movie just ended (yay!!!), so I'm taking Gizbear to bed. Goodnight, GR......

10:32AM Had a good night sleep when I finally got there LOL Could barely put my book down. Just had some wheat toast for breakfast, passing on the coffee this AM. Katy's mom came and got her and the girls are talking about Katy staying another night. LOL So we will see. Wanna finish my book today, and I think I probably will only about 250 pages to go.

Cindy so glad you are feeling a little better today! Glad you also are getting to read a little bit!

Holly shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! heh

the one here in town is friday after work, with about 5 stalls of crap... i always travel to Charlotte every 2 weeks. whats the point of them setting up, here in town if they don't have fresh veggies??? there is like one vendor for fresh stuff, and they are expensive. the other stalls are all crafts.... really???

what happened to the "farm" in Farmers??

Good question. Ours had like 3 tables and all they really have was Squash & tomatoes. I did find some fresh green beans, but that was about it. it was depressing.

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments 12:33PM Working tonight.

Time to explain, a few days ago some of you noticed I posted Week from Hell!!!!

Well here is the shortest way I can describe it.

My Jeep broke down and it is our only car. I also love it like family so I was without it till Thursday night. Getting to and from work was tough to arrange.

Wednesday night our hot water heater started shooting sparks out of the vent where it is housed in our kitchen (apartment living). The sparks were shooting into the microwave so we thought that was the cause. Rushed outside at 11PM and threw the microwave in the dumpster. Later found out that wasn't the cause. Now out one perfectly good microwave. Had no hot water till mid day Thursday because I shut the power to it off to keep sparks from burning the place down.

On top of that I have been sick and feel like crap.

Yesterday I was off and the weather was nice. Low 70s and sunny with a little wind. Took the wife and kiddos to the library and then for a picnic in the park. It was a great way to end a really horrible week. Little man did take a fall and now he has this horrible black eye but he is a trooper and acts like it never happened. Sorry for so long but this was the shortest I could make it.

I'll try to catch up on everyone's posts. Hope every one has a great weekend.

12:46PM Enjoying a turkey and Cheese on wheat for lunch along with a pear. Dropped another pound, so this is one happy cookie over here. Gonna try and finish my book and then in the morning I start The Innocent buddy read, and work on the poll for our Halloween/October reads.

Chris so sorry to hear about your horrible week! That can be so distressing. When one thing goes wrong it all decides to go wrong. So glad that you topped your week off right though. Keeping yourself in high spirits and all. Glad it ended on a good note.

2:19 p.m. and I fell asleep for a couple of hours. Must have been really tired still because I left the computer on, GR's open, and my Kindle app open. Have to leave for work in less than an hour and working almost 12 hours tonight. Gonna finish Roadrage real quick before I leave.

Thanks so much Lisa! Seriously I think I have it figured out now. Eating a well balanced diet really is the key. And of course getting plenty of exercise. I used to think, oh well I did not eat much today so that should help, yet it never did.

I had gotten into a bad habit of skipping breakfast or lunch and then eating dinner, or eating a larger lunch and not much of a dinner etc. Since the family and I have been eating healthier my meals have most definitely evened out. We now eat 3 balance meals and maybe a couple of healthy snacks in between. We don't eat much red meat generally only turkey, chicken or fish. I don't eat desserts or high fat foods. Lots of fruits and veggies.

Alondra Miller 2:37pm ET. Just got back from grocery shopping. why is it, that when you go in to spend $40, you spend over $100!!?? And then, you only have about 6 friggin' bags!

Why do we pay for water? Buy bottled water?? is it really better than tap? why should i pay the stupid city, for water that may or may not be clean... it don't smell that fantastic, anyway. it just 'looks' filtered; but how clean is it really??

(I just know some smart-ass is gonna give me an answer, so just save it)... Humpf.

I agree with you it is cheaper to go to Mc Donald's and eat a meal than it is to but the ingredients and cook it. No wonder the country is obese.

I kind of wish I had stocks of bottled water right now even though it is ridiculous. We are under a boil order right now due to a major water main break. It sucks to have to boil water before we use it.

message 6587: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller it does suck, chris. healthier items are so much more expensive... but isn't that way it has always been?? i need to grow my own veggies, and get some chickens!

Alondra I have found that eating healthier for us has actually cost us a bit less. But then again we have an Aldis that has great fruits and veggies for a great price. Ex: I can get a watermelon there for $1.99 compared to Wal-Mart, $4.99. Also grapes. 2 pounds for $1.57. Wal-Mart, they are that much per pound. They also have great veggies. We don't eat much in the way of red meat, we stick to turkey, chicken and fish. As far as water goes, we bought a Brita filtration system. It is the water jug that you fill up and stick in your fridge. It was a great investment. Every 3 months we change the filter and we save in the long run and the water is great.

And I agree Alondra, need to grow our own fruits and veggies.

Having a bit of a Star trek Weekend, just watched the remake of Star Trek, great how they altered the time line, new Star Trek movie tomorrow.

I would also like to say that I am having a truly great run of truly awesome books. In Future Times, tales will be spoken in hushed voices, around numerous campfires on the magnificence of my literary perusal.

5:23PM Ok so finished dinner. Thought I wanted to try some cous cous. LOL I gotta say well it really is not for me or my family. I mean it was not that bad, but not something I will buy again. So we were without a side dish to our fish. I did not feel like making anything else considering our fish was done. we did have cauliflower though, so it was plenty. LOL Just thought I would share that experience. Now I am gonna read some more before a work out.

4:28 a.m. I know - I'm crazy right? Had to work some really weird hours tonight. Went in at 3:30 p.m. and didn't get out of there until after 2:30 a.m. then went to the grocery. Good news - I was guarding a building to prevent anyone from coming in or out. EASY, EASY, EASY! And I got paid to sit and read all night. Doesn't get any better than that. Only bad thing is my sleep pattern is now totally whacked.
