Peter I've already read Warbreaker, Mistborn 1, and The Way of Kings. Was looking for a new book to read and thought of Elantris. Amazing so far, even just for the sample on the Kindle. (I tried to read Lies of Locke Lamora which has amazing reviews, but couldn't get into it.)

Madeleine Holly-Rosing You'll enjoy it. I thought ELANTRIS was terrific!

Brock Give Locke Lamora a year...then try reading it again. I hated it until I picked it up years after the fact.

Can't wait to read Warbreaker and The Way of Kings sequel

Jeremy Elantris is one of his best--far better than Warbreaker and in some ways better than the Mistborn books. If you like audio books at all, track down the Graphic Audio production--it's acted out with a full voice cast and sound effects, and really well done.

Sounds good...

I don't know why I couldn't get into Locke Lamora. I will try again next year.

Donna Alloy of Law is excellent as well. Highly recommend that one.

Peter Finished the book a few nights ago. Completely amazing!! Looking for something new to read. Suggestions?

Jeremy RE: suggestions.

In fantasy, I find most of it insufferable--Sanderson and Rothfuss are about the only current fantasy authors I follow, unless you count the Dresden Files, which are more horror-comedy in my eyes. In that context, one of the better fantasy books I've read is Greg Bear's Songs of Earth and Power , his lone effort in the genre (he's mostly known for mind-bending sci-fi).

Gary Welch Suggestions:

Peter V Brett
Larry Correia
Brent Weeks
Kevin Hearne

All these authors have some great reads!

Peter I finished Elantris a few weeks ago. Amazing. Sanderson is up there with Rothfuss. Imagine a Sanderson/Rothfuss co-written novel? Yowza.

I read it a few years ago and loved it! It moved a bit slow here and there, but overall it was a great book!

Kiel I bought the Action Audio version and my mind was blown! I want to see this as a movie, or a mini-series!

Chris Tomey I found this book had really interesting ideas and possible story lines but the overall story left me with a paint by numbers feel.

This book was great! really look forward to reading Sanderson's other novels!

T.R. Goodman Elantris was the first book of Sanderson's I ever read. Mistborn is even better.

Thomas I really liked Elantris, but I thought The Way of Kings was better.

Patricia Williford Loved it!

Bert Elffers I read mistborn before Elantris.
I don't know why, but I had a hard time getting into the book. But after some pushing trough the first few chapters I got sucked in and read it trough in a few days.

It is amazing!

Becky I loved how Sanderson created a strong female character who used intelligence instead of a sword. Great book.

Charlie I finshed Elantris a few weeks ago and I have to say it was a complete page turner. I read the Mistborn trilogy last year and while I did prefer Mistborn (the narrative was complex and intriguing in a way that was lacking in Elastris), Elantris is still a great read.

Felix I recommend Michael J. Sullivan, He's A Goodreads author & penned the series "Ryira Revealations," these are awesome!John Gywnne's "Malice" & Anthony Ryan's "Raven Shadow series,"are quite good also. These authors are lesser known and I think on the rise....

Juan Excelente!

Lincoln My only slam on Elantris is the character names makes it difficult to discuss...Have you read Sanderson's short stories? Legion, Emperors Soul, First born or even his young adult fiction like Rithmatist, Steelheart, or Alcatraz?

Of course as of today Words of Radiance is available the follow up to Way of Kings.

But if you haven't finished the whole Mistborn trilogy yet I'd say read that first, that way you don't have any inadvertent spoilers...unless of course you don't mind spoilers!

I kind of crawled through the first half of Elantris, then barreled through the second half. It was really good once I got into it. (Which I guess is what everyone else is saying, but still...as a writer, I like to pay attention to what the fans say!)
