A book that starts with "The D..." [s]

The title of the book is "The D..." I can't, for the life of me, remember what the "D" word is and it is killing me. All I can remember is that the book is, I think< told from a child's point of view. He lives in a small town and out of nowhere a black van slowly drives through the town. Maybe the van is shooting up the town randomly, I'm not sure. You learn a little about the other people living in the town also. I really hope this is enough info. Thank you

It sounds vaguely like The Regulators by Stephen King (writing as Richard Bachman). There is a van that drives down a suburban street shooting things up, and I think the book is told from a child’s point of view.

You may be confusing it with Desperation, also by King, which is sort of a mirror to The Regulators (characters with the same names, etc).

I love you!!!!! Thank you so much!!!! Yea I think I was confusing the two, ugh! I knew it was a Stephen King book, but I was so stuck on thinking the title started with a "D" Thank you!!
