I agree, Matched is boring as heck and Delirium is actually somewhat interesting
I thought they had pretty similar concepts.
No. Not at all. Delirium is 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 times better and then some. Delirium is beautiful and amazingly written. Matched has a nice plot, but characters make unbelievable choices and isn't written very well. They are totally different.
i think they are both similar also, but delirium is way better!
:)
:)
I think they have a similar concept however both are very different when it comes down to the actual story; they are both very good and both deserve recognition.
Similar, but almost majority of dystopian books have similar concepts, especially when it comes to organized matches/life partners so you can't just say one copied the other. It's a dystopian regular.
The Giver, Delirium, Matched, etc.

I guess they are kinda similar, only because they both are like future societies where everything is planned for you. There isn't as much of a love triangle though. They both are definetly REALLY similar, because you end up getting matched to someone but in Matched they don't see love as a disease, and in Delirium they have one big country instead of different sections, but overall they are really similar and they both are extremely good books.
Wow girls I feel the complete opposite! Maybe it's because I read Matched first but I just finished Delirium this week and did not find it original or nearly as wonderful as a lot of people recommended. In this dystopian genre I think the writing style is unique. Allie Condie pulls it off. It's supposed to be dry, mechanic-like and simple to reflect the no-individuality-no-color-or-choice persona of the the setting and it's citizens. I feel like Delirium wasn't well suited against other books in its genre like Matched, Across the Universe and dare I say the Mama of them all, Hunger Games. The whole 'love is a disease' concept was to corny and far out there for me. I just couldn't get behind it or its principles...where as Matched and Across the Universe, however far out there with the outer space and 100 lists just seemed to grab and hold my attention. I was really disappointed with Delirium.
They are similar due to the fact that they get assigned people to marry. I think in Matched though, that its more as if it could really happen. I personally just got down putting Delirium down. I got half way through, and wasn't interested at all. Lena just kept dragging the story on and I didn't see it becoming anything that I would like. I kept to Matched though, which in my opinion Condie could of done bettter with..
