Anyone up for leading a book discussion?

I mentioned this in another thread but thought it would be better to make it its own category. Longtime members know I led a number of monthly book discussions last year. I've had some personal challenges in recent months and so can't be as active right now. So if anyone wants to lead a discussion of a yoga book--nonfiction or fiction, new or classic, anything that's a fun or meaty read that would interest others--let me know. I can send a message to all 500-plus members of the group letting them know you are moderating a discussion. You can browse our prior threads to see how we usually do these.

I think I miht like to do this to. whats involved and is it possible to creat a book of the month group? Does the book have to be specificlly about yoga? I don't have any book suggestions.

Thanks, Alison, Char and Lisa for volunteering! Alison, I sent you a private message with details the day you offered; not sure how you access those if you are using the phone app (I haven't been able to find messages there). If you'd like to lead the Cope book for November, let me know.

As for what's involved, you have to select a book (and yes, it does have to be about yoga, but it can be new or a classic, and fiction or nonfiction). The book should be a good read and not just an instruction book. Then you divide the book into three parts and each week you post some prompts to get the discussion going, periodically weighing in on other people's posts. I suggest you look at the discussions for prior books on this site for a sense of how I've done it.

If Alison does do November, we would want the next one to be January, because December is a busy mont for most people so there won't be many participants. Char and Lisa, I'd say keep your eyes open for a good book to lead early in 2013. As it gets closer, you'd let me know what the book is and I will alert all our members. (I think only the moderator can message the entire list)
