Joshua I don't know the first movie I saw. I do know that the first movie I remember seeing was, "The Little Prince". It holds a very powerful connection to my life. I will never know if it's b/c it's connected to my first conscious memories or the power of the story. I think it's both. Does anyone else feel this way. I re-read the book from time to time and re-watch the movie. It resembles a religious experience.

Astrid Yrigollen Hi Josh,

For me I would not say it was a religious experience, but a connection to the way the little Prince saw things. I think that is the beauty of the character , so many of us can identify with our inner child and how we saw and felt things as a child.

This is one of my favorite books.

Astrid

Ben Hi, this is pretty neat. The little prince came to my mind a few months back. Its something I have not thought about since I was a child and its rare to have a memory from so long ago (early childhood mid 80's) just peak through the fog and jolt such vivid flashbacks. I remember an odd loneliness feel and being annoyed with the flower. It was a VHS tape of an animated movie or television series my father brought home, Japanese animation style to it. Anyway thanks to smart phones and Google I was able to piece my memory together and track down the little prince finding out of course its origin and am reading it now. So cool how things like this connect themselves to a memory locked away deep in ones mind but also the wonderful emotions only a child can experience. "Grown ups are very serious people."

It's a very spiritual book, imo, with the pure perspective that children possess.

Feliks One of a very special few books of its type. I've listed my other faves in my 'great kids books' shelf.

'Little Prince' is well-paired with Kahlil Gibran, 'The Prophet'.

I had read it in childhood, understood, when was 15, was amazed in early 16. Still reread it. Still love it. All people, whole world, whole knowlegde and life in one little book with some drawings. Amazing !

Joana Uau I had no idea that they had made of movie out of The Little Prince, but I hope it makes justice to the amazingly beautiful and meaningful book that it is. I read it for the first time as a child, when someone gave it to me for my birthday.
I realized, a few years later when I re-read it, that I did not comprehend the true essence of the novel back then, as I suspect no child really does.. It has a profound message that I find difficult for a child to grasp, so everytime people say ironically that it's a children's book, I can't help but to smile.
It says a lot between the lines and Little Prince is a very captivating character that stays in people's hearts. I loved it, it's still one of my favourite books :)
