Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments I have eight titles that I unpublished and will never, ever put back in the Kindle Store. They're all there (in the store) in different guises so I have no use for these unpublished versions. Trouble is, KDP support tells me there's no way to get rid of them if they've ever been offered for sale (they have), even if they're no longer for sale.

I changed the titles to "X" so they'd at least fall to the last page of my list of titles. So what did KDP do? They blocked all those titles which put them on the front page (in alphabetical order, the B in blocked wins that top spot, or rather the top 8 spots).

I can filter by "Live" and see the titles I want to see at the top of the page, but the software doesn't "remember" my choice so I have to filter each time I return to the site. Life is too short to have to do that.

If any of you have similar problems with your bookshelf, would you please send a note to KDP, asking them to give us a way to at least move unpublished works to another section on the site -- I mean, if you suffer from the same degree of OCD that I do.

For once it looks like they got it right. I looked up three of your book sets, Sierra, Philpin and Bliss, and didn't see anything blocked, or without a price.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments No, not the books that are in the store. I'm talking about books I removed from the store a long time ago.

When I removed them, there was no delete option; only the option to unpublish. That put them into draft mode (the default when you unpublish a book).

The bookshelf is alphabetical, so I changed the titles on the draft books to "X" so they'd be at the bottom of the list, but KDP changed all those books to "Blocked" (thinking they were being helpful) which put them at the top of my bookshelf. I can't get rid of them except via filtering.

If I filter for the "Live" list, it works only on that visit to the site. I have to filter on each visit to have the list look like I want it to look. Filtering for the Live listing makes all the "X" titled books disappear. If the software can do it via filtering, why not give us the option to make it permanent?

If you've never unpublished a book, you probably haven't encountered this problem. Just imagine having eight dead listings on your bookshelf page.

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments I have trouble imagining having eight live listings, Patricia. But I agree, it does seem like a strange way to go about things.

Tell them the X is for XXX rated, to be kept on the bottom shelf.

Now, Patricia, you have what it takes to conquer anything, anywhere! When the situation is at its most hopeless, the power rises and caps at impossible levels!

Oh, and be careful if you find a phonebooth. You'll actually flash pop into tights and a cape now. Amazon will lose that battle shortly afterwards.
