Great. So his name in Russian is primary for all editions, and for the Polish one, his name in Polish is secondary.
These two should be the same author: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/... and http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

i dont'know what to do ?
The first one you linked should be the primary author on all editions of his books. The other profiles should be secondary authors on any books listed under that version of his name. No profiles should be merged.
hi. How can I combine two authors? they're the same person, but there are two profiles from the same person. How can I combine them in order to be just one profile?thanks.

The librarian manual has this:
How to merge author profiles
Make sure the two profiles are not just the same person in two different languages or two pen names of one person. We don't combine them.
You can post links here and we can help.
EDIT: never mind. Someone has done it.

These profiles are of the famous Greek author Sophocles, but the second is the "translation" of his name to Portuguese. Should they be combined?
Lea wrote: "Should they be combined?"
NO.
Please do not merge author profiles in different languages. It undoes hours of other librarians' work.
Each book should have the Roman (English) name first. Those editions published in another language should have that language's spelling of the author listed as the secondary author.

Ok, so if there's an edition of Antigone in Portuguese, it's supposed to be in the author's profile in Portuguese and NOT merged with the other editions in the English profile?
The english/portuguese editions of the book should be combined, but two author profiles should remain separate: one for the English language author name and one for the Portuguese Author name (if the names differ between those languages). The English Language Author Name should be listed first in both editions. The Portuguese Author Name should be listed second only on the Portuguese Edition.
There are two author's by the name of Keith W. Whitelam and one Keith Whitelam. Can you separate the books under these names as follows:Keith W. Whitelam (joined February 2013):
Rhythms of Time: Reconnecting Palestine's Past
Holy Land ad Homeland? Models for Constructing the Historic Landscapes of Jesus
The Emergence of Early Israel in Historical Perspective (with Robert B. Coote)
The Invention of Ancient Israel: The Silencing of Palestinian History (author should be Keith W. Whitelam)
Just King: Monarchial Judicial Authority in Ancient Israel (author should be Keith W. Whitelam).
Kagiso's mad Uncle and The Travellers(oop) are by a different Keith W. Whitelam.
Thanks,
Keith
Keith I've removed the other Keith's books and referred your 2 profiles to the appropriate thread, to be combined by GR staff.

Hello. Can you combine author profiles ALEXEI MAXIM RUSSELL and MR ALEXEI MAXIM RUSSELL? I am Alexei Russell and claimed ALEXEI MAXIM RUSSELL already but I can't claim my newest book because Amazon mispelled it with the MR in front and that was copied to goodreads. I would appreciate any help!
Hi -I'm newish, and I have read the Manual, but I'm still not sure how/whether to deal with this situation.
U.S. historian Merle Eugene Curti has pages under that version of his name and 'Merle Curti'. He almost never used his middle name on publications; moreover, the Amer. Historical Assn. has named one of its most prestigious prizes the 'Merle Curti Award'.
Library of Congress authority shows up as: Curti, Merle (Merle Eugene), 1897-1996
So should everything on Goodreads be combined into Merle Curti, Merle E. Curti, or Merle Eugene Curti, or just left alone while I go get some more Ativan? :)
I should note that I took matters into my own hands WRT Leonard Trelawny Hobhouse, who showed up as L.T., L T, L. T., Leonard T., etc. I gathered them all under the full name, as that is how he appears in several authoritative references. So if that was bad GR form, I want to know before I go and sin again.
Thanks!
Paul, generally, we go with how they were published. And sometimes that means more than one author page. We would link between them.Though we would definitely fix errors like those you mentioned for Hobhouse. GR does have naming conventions particularly for initials and the first L.T. would be correct unless there were multiple L.T. Hobhouses, then the space would be between the initals L. T.
As to the 2 individuals you listed, not being American I don't know them at all and will leave it to others to comment.
Same name issue on dashboard. I hope I am in the correct forum. Please excuse if I'm not...This first book is mine:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...
This one isn't: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11... Can you help?
These two entries belong to the same author:https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

The first one is far better than the second one, probably the first one is the "official" one.
Thank you!
# 83 - Thank you. I understood the procedure. It happens 'cause in the Brazilian Portuguese translation of the "Wired for Thought: How the Brain Is Shaping the Future of the Internet" book his name appears slightly different from his usual name on book covers.
It's less confusing to start a new thread than to bump one from a couple years ago.
Closing thread.
