Every year in English class and in every moment of your personal life, you get to choose the books that you read. Sometimes that choice doesn't work out very well; you and your book do not get along and you have to decide "to abandon" or "not to abandon"the book?
How do you know if you are not getting along with a book and what do you do about it? In your experience with your book for English class this year, what challenges have you faced? What will you do differently in your book selection in the future?
I feel that when someone abandons their book because of several reasons. When I first started The Jungle, I was reading about a wedding in 1900. I was read to abandon it, it was so boring. That is one reason why. Another reason could be that it is too long and they are lazy. Finally they may be not liking the book overall.
I agree with Clayton on the boring part. Most of the time when I abandon a book it's because it is so slow paced that I go crazy. But I learned that you have to give the book a try, so I at least read a couple chapter before I give up.
For me, if my attention isn't grabbed within the first few pages or even lines of a book, it is hard to give it a chance. I wish that I had the attention span to read a bit further into the book because out of the books I do read, my favorite part of the book is toward the middle because that is where it gets them most intense or exciting.
