Why Am I Getting Truncated "New Discussions"

Sorry if somebody has already raised this. If so, I have probably missed it because of the very problem I raise.

For some time now (One week? Two weeks?, upon reading my daily email about recent discussions on this forum, I have found that it tails off part way through. Until now I have had to click at the bottom of the email to open up a new window to show the full list. Now I never get to that point.

It is not the browser - I have checked it on Chrome, Explorer and Firefox, with the same result.

All those fine words being uttered and I get no chance to read them. :-) And it can't just be me!

The review updates also do this now too. They used to have a link at the very bottom to view email as a whole but recently it just cuts it off. I am reading through the thread now. First off they suggest a gmail problem but I can't work out what they are on about

Thanks everybody. I use Gmail so I seem to have fallen foul of the same problem.

It's really annoying for me as I rely on the emails to read all my friends' reviews and I never look at my homepage.

a hack for it supplied by google known issues bit:

The 'View entire message' link at the bottom of very long messages does not appear as usual. While we work to fix the problem, you can access long messages by switching to basic HTML view by signing in to Gmail at https://mail.google.com/?ui=html.

That doesn't seem to work, Elle. I haven't actually counted the posts shown, but I am pretty sure there aren't 384, unless I have suddenly learned to read a lot faster.

It worked for me on my reviews? I went back to see ones that had been cut off on older emails and they are all present.

Are you talking bout those emails or the discussion ones? Cause my discussion emails never show every topic.

Yes, the emails about New Discussions. Until now there has always been a thing to click at the end of the email to show the full list of discussions. Now it always finishes short, without that thing to click, and sometimes in the middle of a comment.

An additional datum that may help: Gmail's problems play out differently on different browsers.

I tried it on 3 different browsers, Chrome, Explorer, and Firefox. Results all the same.

Well, that puts to rest that hypothesis. Have you also tried clearing your history? Sometimes the browser will hold on to an old pattern, even after it's been corrected.

I think Google have now fixed the problem. The daily "New Discussions" email came in today. There at the bottom was the old familiar "[Message clipped] View entire message", which meant I could open another window and see the full message. But what have I missed in the past ten days? ;-D
