Woohoo! Can't wait to see them, Amy. You might be the first to ea..."
Only if i can keep 3 year old fingers busy elsewhere :)

Haha I understand! I'm looking forward to trying one of Jaffrey's recipes today, so I can collect some points and pages! :)

Still reading First Grave on the Right

I had the same problem Pragya. Gah I hate crowded trains! I did listen to a bit of an audiobook, but it was one I started before the Toppler so I've made zero progress!

I know! I tried listening to an audiobook but couldn't over all the noise, why can't people keep quiet?
Even with the non-toppler audio book, atleast you had a better commute, Kat.

I am so J, Beth. :p Have fun reading away.

I have a cunning plan for tomorrow - I'm working from home so I'm going to plug myself into a non-fiction audiobook. Take that noisy train travellers!

Today, I've been working all day and rest a little at lunch. Tomorrow I'm planning to hang with my sis again and do more reading.
Glad to see everyone piping in and reading, reading, reading... with some tea and biscuits thrown in now and then... or coffee.

Heh my Dad had the worst timing ever. He used to live in the flat out the back of our place, and we would go weeks without seeing him.
But as soon as we started something that couldn't be put off (the usual was organising 25 ppl to play a video game together on the net) he would appear suddenly and mysteriously, like a chatty Yorkshire genie, and wanted to catch up on EVERYTHING possible right then. Oh and then *show* me everything he had done in the flat and the garden as well.
I have no doubt this would apply to Topplers too. So in short, I feel your pain.

Get a tape recorder and record, "Yup... ahuh... mmmm" in intervals. Then read away.

Say you have a headache and have to go lie down for a while :)

I've finished a book last night, but will have to delay picking another as I've got that pesky thing called work! How dare it get in the way of my reading!!

Hey April - are we related????
I swear my husband sees a book in my hand and thinks "She must be bored! I need to entertain her!" and away he goes ...
The funny things is, he didn't used to be like this, but his father was EXACTLY this way! I loved his father, miss him daily, so I'm perfecting my half-listening technique.
Have you thought about flesh colored ear-plugs?

:-D

Yes. I started my first academic position in August, so am very interested in developing a good record for tenure. Of course, the teaching load does get in the way of my reading ;-).
Unfortunately for me during this Toppler, on two days I have meetings during the day and class at night, and teach for 6 hours this Saturday. So, I'm not able to take advantage of the final day as I normally would.

LOL! I'm ordering one now! PERFECT for my morning tea. I've actually resorted to a sign on my office door for when I write, but somehow reading is seen as non-work. Perhaps because I read reclined on the sofa (hammock, bed, floor, grass, beach towel, pretty much anywhere I am able ...)
Off to find that mug on a US site. Thanks for the suggestion.

Those are great! I definitely need the mug for my husband.
Here is a funny music video about reading as well:

Oh Sam, that link! Now perusing that site is going to eat into MY reading time ;)
Fab link! I'm loving the recycled book confetti. Reminds me of Grandad, who used to save all the hole punch "holes" from the office and throw them at a wedding. >:-)

haha! I always joke that someone should do that at my office...they always look at me funny ;-)

I don't remember if this was answered but if I qualify to read another Orange book does it have to be read during the Toppler?

Great plan, Kat. Wish I could do that too. :(

But here's a new wrinkle; if the Orange is also a horror or non-fiction, do I get to count the pages toward a Treat? Not being greedy or anything, just thinking....

Yeah it didn't really work out for me - I had trouble concentrating. But I did finish The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks because I can actually HAVE a lunch break when I'm not in the office!

Wow! I still have to start on that one.
And I am not getting into any of the Classic Horror audio books :(

LOL, same here, Amber. :p
And second of all, the mister will be home late tonight which means a solid 3 hours of uninterrupted quiet reading time in which I will finish at least 1 of my books and make a significant amount of progress in others. And, most likely, drink a significant amount of coffee to avoid the nap that usually follows a day of work. Napping is my favorite hobby.

Yay for some great reading time!

I think so, but you have to ask the Toppler gurus - Judy and jaxnsmom.

I started First Grave on the Right last night and am enjoying the flippant banter.
I also read a bit more of Fat Girls and Lawn Chairs and had my first LOL moment. She was talking about her cat. Why is it cats are always good for inspiring laughter?

I want that mug. The people at work would love seeing me with it.
Happy Birthday, Beverly!

I've saved the site so I can drool over the items later. I want them all! Have to spend some time reading, but nooooo, I have to go to work now :(
