I see what you mean by ending with a BANG now. Though I wouldn't necessarily call them cliffhangers, per si, but they definitely leave you needing more!

I really want to, but I have so many buddy reads coming up......and I still haven't finished Holmes yet. :-\
Holly wrote: "By the time I start these, everybody's going to be done reading them!! Lol"LOL, Not me Holly. I am STILL on the first book. *trudge trudge trudge* I will get finished with it sooner or later.
Holly wrote: "By the time I start these, everybody's going to be done reading them!! Lol"Nope, Im still going through Book 1. On audiobook. I had a really hard time getting into it. Still confused from time to time, but willing to keep going.

It's amazing, isn't it?? And things start getting really crazy in the 2nd book! Happy reading, Kris!

Due to being late to the party I knew there were a lot of key characters that died. Some I was not terrible sad to see go. The end was crazy, but not too out of the realm, and I was intrigued. Will be great to see where the story, and characters go.
Yes, it's fairly common knowledge that many key players don't make it. GRRM's penchant for killing his darlings and all! I think he has taken it and made an art form all his own, personally.
No, not too out of the realm. In hindsight, it was almost to be expected.

I wish I could say I was still persevering but I would be lying. I finally threw in the towel last night after reading 300+ pages. I just really did not have enough to work with to want to keep going. And it is not that I am saying he is a bad author, just not my genre to read I guess. Or maybe not the style of the book. Either way I just could not keep going. I really did try to like it. And there were some memorable moments, just not enough for me.

yeah, GRRM and JK Rowling!! hahhaa...
Dustin wrote: "JK Rowling, Alondra?? She doesn't kill her darlings.. does she?"yes. she is not as bad as GRRM, but going into the HP series; you just don't expect it. You go in singing Kumbayah; and leave upset and snotting all over the place... hehehhe
Dustin wrote: "Oh yeah! I remember now!! [spoilers removed]"Yes, and also a lot of kids and even (view spoiler)

Hey, Holly!
I thought I'd post in the thread, since you're reading Thrones now. I'd hate to spoil anything for you, so I'll let you post first. You remember how to hide spoilers, right?
You're up!

Oh man, you know I would totally join you, buddy, but I finished the series (patiently awaiting Book VI,) last fall.. So you've only read the 1st book, correct?
I can't wait for you to experience all the back-stabbing, deceit, political intrigue, and so much more!
I can't either, buddy!! :D
Like I said, I hope to continue with the series in early September. Crossing my fingers that I'll be able to.
