Unfortunately, I haven't gotten past the 89th page of Thrones, but the Seven Kingdoms are certainly calling my name! As soon as I'm done with The Girl Who Played with Fire (116 pages remaining,) and possibly the first couple chapters of Hornet's Nest, I shall be back!!

I'm feeling much better now. Over the weekend, I went from p. 89 to 190. I'm now about 23% complete, and the intrigue has certainly set in.. And I know I'm in great hands with GRRM, this is merely the tip of the ice burg!

It is amazing, IMO! With so many characters, it can be a little intimidating at first, but each in is so distinct, that it's pretty easy to get to know them. Love em or hate em (and trust me, there are several that you truly despise,) GRRM does a fantastic job!

That's perfectly understandable. There is a LOT to them, after all, and you can't know how you feel about them until you actually read them!

There are elements of horror here. I love the fact that GRRM doesn't pigeonhole his writing into any specific genre. ASOIAF isn't strictly fantasy/sci-fi, horror, political intrigue.. It's in a class all its own!!

So it's been awhile since my last post, and I thought I'd update it. And OMG, I can't believe some of the little details that I'd forgotten! For instance, (view spoiler)[Lord Eddard's betrayal of the king (though in Ned's position, I think I would have done the same thing,) the fact that Littlefinger thrusts his dagger up into Ned's throat, the pursuit of Sansa & Arya, and most shocking of all, Sansa's dishonest letters to Jon, Catlyn, and was it Lyssa Arryn? (hide spoiler)] Ahh, so much intrigue, betrayal, suspense, and all around insanity!!


I should be done with Thrones in about a week or so!:)

A Game of Thrones was one of the best fantasy books I'd ever read. A Clash of Kings was quite impressive also. I read them both on a West Pac back in 2002. But I decided to wait until the series is finished before continuing (and I'll probably reread the first two.) That's why I've stopped watching GoT after the first season. I collect them, but I haven't watched anything past that.

The ending of AGoT is one of my favorite scene in all of fantasy literature. The series did justice to the scene, too.

After reading The Catcher in the Rye, I was really itching to get back to A Clash of Kings, but I only made it through one chapter. I'm still kind of reeling from the former, like I'm lost in Holden's world. But not to worry, I should be more than ready for the all insanity of GRRM, later today!:)
