What are you reading?
Finished The Lies of Locke Lamora. It was brilliant, a five star read, and I'm kinda in love with Locke! The second book in the series should be here hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday. I can't wait to start it.
Awesome Lannister :) The third book is also out. So you're lucky you will not have to wait. I am glad you enjoyed the read. Its one of my favorite books.
Just read an ARC copy of
I like Mike Carey, though this is not my normal read. Worth looking at if you like post apocalyptic thriller/horror.
@Zeenat:They are labeled as UF, though each book as a different set of MCs in it.
I realllly like the series, wasn't too sure on it when I started, but the last 2 books I have liked the best. There is a box set of all 4 books out, or coming nov 11 some times my library gets books way ahead of pub date for some reason, so you can read all 4 in a row. Maybe you could pick out the baddie if you read them back to back? For me, it was mostly a surprise, hell a lot of the things that happen in that series is a surprise to me. Oh yeah, it is about super beings/heros and such.
Finished:The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith
I had to see what the hub bub was about this book so I looked it up on amazon … added it to wish list to look into later … get it out and I am planning on dl the sample.
The whole plan failed hard core. Thank you stupid IOS 7 lagging my phone and voice over. I hit the right # of swipes, it just did not catch up and I bought it instead. I am stubborn and I read it—that’ll show you stupid phone! Oh yea, it’s lendable if someone wants to do it that way. I have never shared anything).
People threw the word epic out there a few times in described this book and I will agree with that for the most part. It is sci-fi so not everyone will like it. (Plus there are some events/language people should be warned about)
The lizard men had adequate descriptions for them … I just kept picturing ever quest Iksar pre-luclin w/ no tail.
I recently finished it so I could go on, but I think all of the humans sides Amber should have had their faces melted off … or she should have let Meoraq ginsu their asses.
It is a very long book 23k section for kindle, I couldn’t find an actual page count sides ~900-1k
I like this sort of scenario so it got extra points for me, would have gotten lots more if there was some decapitation going on and stuff.

This is getting really high reviews...any more non spoiler clues Llaph along the lines of 'you'll like it if...'. Is it a boys sci fi book? I like some but not all.
There is not a lot of sci fi once they land, the lizard people arn't very tech advanced seeming. There is a lot of man vs wildness, alien culture etc etc. I really liked most parts of it. It is very blunt about sex and violence, so not for the feint of heart ( especially if the idea of alien parts meshing with human--no tentacles though!) Lizard culture is very misogynistic and brutal. It is pretty dark--some say gritty, I say serious business.... The first few reviews on its GR page sum it up pretty good. I can’t change my reviews from default if that helps at all.
typing onm ah phone ftw!
Finished:Black and Blue (Otherworld Assassin #2) by Gena Showalter
For me this was definatly better than the first book and I liked it a lot more than The Darkest Craving … I think I like her Alien Huntress world more than LotU though. :P
I read
Kansas Flame. I still read this author, but I'm getting tired of erotic fiction. It's gotten boring lol
The Boleyn Deceit, I'll post the review on that tomorrow.Read
Rusted Veins which was cute and
Dead Ever After Which felt like a waste of 10 bucks...Just Finished
Black Heart, will post review later today.Still reading
Thy Kingdom Fall I just can't get myself to read more of it. lolI'll start rereading the blood singer series and the allie beckstrom series (well from whereever shamus entered the picture)
Lannister wrote: "Finished The Lies of Locke Lamora. It was brilliant, a five star read, and I'm kinda in love with Locke! The second book in the series should be here hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday. (As in Ink and Steel Promethean Age novels) I was just looking her up as I saw a sign today in Forbidden Planet for a book signing and couldn't remember why the name was familiar.
Anna, yeah, I just learned that recently. It's a small world! Apparently the third Locke Lamora book features a Shakespearean style play in it, and I believe Ms. Bear helped him out a little with that! For fans of podcasts, Scott Lynch gives a nice interview here. (He talks about some personal stuff with his ex-wife and new partner.)
http://geeksguideshow.com/2013/10/03/...
Listening to this interview made me finally get my act together and dust off the copy of The Lies of Locke Lamora that I bought about two years ago and start reading!
@Anna:Sometimes I catch myself wanting to read it again already, even knowing what all happens!
Finished:
Bloodlines (Demons of Oblivion #1) by Skyla Dawn Cameron
This was a freebie I caught on twitter. I didn’t think that I would like it so much, the heroine looked like a stuck up, self-absorbed and shallow ho-bag, but she has layers! I actually found myself liking it a lot and looking for the next books in the series … my wishlist is getting a bit long.
Thanks for links guys. I'll chec them out@ Llaph 'the heroine looked like a stuck up, self-absorbed and shallow ho-bag, ' Lol You know how to sell a book Llaph!
@Lannister: struggling a bit so far- too much world building before I've engaged with Locke & co. Maybe cause I'm tired ;). Hang on I take it there are no spoilers it says its a sequel interview?
Anna, I listened to that podcast without having read any of the books and while Scott Lynch talked very generally about the third book, he didn't really give anything away. It was a nice interview, I thought.I hope Lies picks up for you. It does get better as you read on, I thought.
Since I can't read more Locke Lamora this weekend, I'm starting Sins of the Lost
. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and the third has really good reviews, so I hope it lives up to expectations.

Finished:Whiskey Sour (Demons of Oblivion, #0.5), Hunter (Demons of Oblivion#2), Hungry Like the Wendigo(Demons of Oblivion, #2.5), and Lineage (Demons of Oblivion, #3) by Skyla Dawn Cameron
The first book was a freebie until a day or so ago. The author said that she was leaving the other books in the series on sale for now. I have no ETA on that … but I bought the rest anyway. I like this series, even the switching between MCs doesn’t bug me much. I get to see the other characters from different POVs. Hrm, I think you pretty much hate the MCs in all of the books @ first except the 2nd one (mainly because she is a nun lol). Just made me go wtf a lot….
Hahahaha.. have fun :D I finally have the third book in that series, just no time to actually read the damned thing. Sigh. Here's to hoping I get time tonight!!
I intend to start the third book as soon as I finish the second one. I'll look forward to hearing what you think of the third one, Arushi. It seems to have been quite well received.
I just finished my 2nd book this month,
Styxx (Dark-Hunter #23) by Sherrilyn Kenyon. My next book is
Darkling (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon #3) by Yasmine Galenorn
I just finished my 3rd book this month,
Darkling (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon #3) by Yasmine Galenorn. My next book is
Ceremony in Death (In Death #5) by J.D. Robb
Finished:The Scholomance by R. Lee Smith
Some freaky sh—right there man. You know those books where you know that it is bad stuff, but you can’t stop yourself from finishing it? There is one right there … Smith writes some WTF stuff….
ps: I hated that instance )only warcraft nerds will get that.)
Dale wrote: "I just finished my 3rd book this month,

I just finished my 4th book this month,
Ceremony in Death (In Death #5) by J.D. Robb. My next book is
A Cursed Embrace (Weird Girls #2) by Cecy Robson
Arushi wrote: "Dale wrote: "I just finished my 3rd book this month,

It's a 3 star paperback but a 4 star in audio format. Each book to date is from a different sister view and I'm loving it. I want to listen to them at once but I limit myself to 2 a month.
@Dale - Thanks so much :) I have the e-books so that would be a three star.. but definitely worth reading.
I just finished my 5th book this month,
A Cursed Embrace (Weird Girls #2) by Cecy Robson. Robb. My next book is
The Darkest Kiss (Riley Jenson Guardian #6) by Keri Arthur
I finished Red Seas Under Red Skies
and gave it five stars. I think that, although this book had some hilarious one liners, its tone wasn't quite as light-hearted as the first book. I really enjoyed getting into the relationships between the characters though. And Jean and Locke have a damn fine bromance going on. A damn fine bromance! ;)Now onto The Republic of Thieves
where I believe the mysterious Sabetha finally makes an appearance.
