What are you reading?
@ Jax:I can only comment on the ones I have read ... Wicked as she wants was okay, the princess got on my nerves (man she was a snob lol)and finally you get to learn about Casper.
As for the sabina books ... I personally did not like them. she was too nice to be an assassin. Other people love it though.
I have the last 2 books of the elemental assassin series to catch up on still so I can't say about that.
Same for me with the morganville vampire series.
I believe that is the last midkemia book so dunno! The last book I read was the last in the serpent war saga so I am way behind in that series.
I can't really help with picking a book to read since I am having the same problem. I don't even feel too much like re-reading my favorites and the small pile of freebies I have accumalated on my kindle doesn't appeal either.
Diane wrote: "So are The Bloodhound Files pretty good?"It starts off really good, but the last book left a lot to be desired. I think the ending soured the whole series for me.

This is why I'm hesitant at starting this series now.
Diane wrote: "So are The Bloodhound Files pretty good?"yes the audio book ver. is at anyways, the sad thing is the author stops after the sixth book and doesn't know if he is ever going to finished or not. I get the feeling the series kind of made him a tad nuts and he wanted off the crazy ride.
re: bloodhound files ... I have only read 1,2, and 3. I didn't like 3 as much as the others, mainly because the sarcasm had skipped over the funnyline and was dancing on the wtf annoying side.I would try Elantra series again, but atm I am feeling too lazy to transfer it over to my victor reader. Maybe I will just dl it again and listen to it on my phone. :x
so lazy
Finished:
Seduced by Blood (Sweetblood, #4) by Laurie London

last night and loved it. Battles with chalk drawings. Who knew?Started
. This one is gonna take a while.

^Sympathy! :)
I have a similar list of reasons too! LOL
Elemental Assassin - I'm wondering if I should just wait till I receive Heart of Venom in September.
Similar Thought with Morganville - though Daylighters only comes out in Nov.
Magician's End - Yup its the last Midkemia - I held out and haven't read the last trilogy...so I have 3 books for that one. But I'm not sure I'm ready for it to end. I already finished Wheel of Time! I can't let go of Pug too!
I'm not sure, But I think this is almost worse than not having ANYTHING to read!! At least then you take what you can get! LOL
I shouldn't complain though - I love that I have this many books. And I am technically reading
with my daughter.

That is very good to know. At least the work week is a short one this week so I should be able to get in some good reading time.
Reading
. I really like the series, despite the fact that a lot of times it's super slow, and the "dream/test" sequences confuse me.
I just finished my 1st book this month,
Serpent's Storm (Calliope Reaper-Jones, #3) by Amber Benson. My next book is
Taken by Midnight (Midnight Breed #8) by Lara Adrian
Finished off the Chronicles of Elantra series with
. I'll write up something in the general book thread with my thoughts later.Tomorrow I'll start:
Finished:A Blood Seduction (Vamp City, #1) by Pamela Palmer
@Claire:
Driving Mr. Dead is my favorite in that spin off, Care and Feeding comes a close second. :x
MacRieve (Immortals After Dark, #13) by Kresley ColeWorth the loss of sleep…. Still on biblio-high so I might change the rating after I have read it again. Lothaire is still my favorite of the series though.
The cliffhanger at the end in the epilogue sucks major ass. *angryface*
I just finished my 2nd book this month,
Taken by Midnight (Midnight Breed #8) by Lara Adrian. My next book is
A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin
Claire wrote: "Thanks to Llaph and her recommendations, I've gone on a Molly Harper binge. Read:

I really am enjoying them. I started
. I keep laughing out loud. I'm pretty sure this is the last book in the series, and I am very upset. I love Alexia's witty banter with her husband and all the vampires' ridiculously overdone mannerisms.
So I have finished the October Daye series. It kind of just happened. I also just finished Affliction - the latest Anita Blake book. I reviewed. Wish it was better but it could have been worse. No idea what I am going to read next. Have also read a few pages of Hounded by Kevin Hearne, but not sure if I will be continuing it anytime soon.
Need more books!!!!
@Arushi - If you haven't read the "Dresden Files" try those. Or the "Jane True" series. Both are good.
Not touching the teasers. I just finished Affliction - and there was this scene where I actually thought LKH had repeated something from the previous books until I realized it was part of a teaser. Not doing that to myself again. Either UF or Fantasy - but dark, modern-ish fantasy rather than epic fantasy. Violence will be a plus, so will be I just want fast paced stuff I guess. Good UF is sooo hard to find. Also I feel silly for not reading October Daye before this... it is such a good series. Ah well. Now I have.. and do not have to wait a year for the next book. Thats the silver lining.
d c wrote: "@Arushi - If you haven't read the "Dresden Files" try those. Or the "Jane True" series. Both are good."I have both of them. I started Jane True once.. but for some reason stopped after a few pages... so don't wanna read it right now.
Feel the same thing for Dresden files.. though I know I am being irrationally silly (vs. the usual rationally silly). Never read it even a little though.
Arushi, Have you read anything by Joe Abercrombie? He writes gritty fantasy and sometimes gets compared to GRRM. I read The Blade Itself yonks ago and liked it, but never quite got round to continuing on in the series. For UF, I enjoyed Sleight of Hand. It was a good read, though possibly not startlingly original, but I enjoyed it way more than I expected to.
That's too bad you aren't going to read the teasers (whenever they appear). We'll try to restrict the chat to the Tempt the Stars spoiler thread so you don't get spoiled. :)
@Lannister - I won't read the teasers either; never have, never will.@Aushi - Why are women so temperamental about choices? ;-)
Series:
Delilah Street: Paranormal Investigator?
Kitty Norville?
Gaslight Chronicles?
The Bloodhound Files?
St. Kilda
Robot
Foundation
Argeneau Family
Incryptid
Standalone:
Hemlock Grove
Strange Flesh
Finished
and loved it. I totally love Brandon Sanderson. Cannot wait until January for book 2.Starting
Claire wrote: "Thanks to Llaph and her recommendations, I've gone on a Molly Harper binge. Read:

Lannister wrote: "Arushi, Have you read anything by Joe Abercrombie? He writes gritty fantasy and sometimes gets compared to GRRM. I'd appreciate it if u guys stuck to the spoiler thread, but don't sweat it too much. I am sure almost everyone here has learned to ignore what they do not want to read - it helps with the mental scars :P
@Duane - *raises eyebrow* the fact that I am a woman means I get to be temperamental, no explanations required. Thanks a lot for the suggestions though :) I've read the Bloodhound Files - tho not the last book. So there is that. And Incryptid is also on my TBR pile. I will look the rest up. Kitty Norville I've heard of.. and not that interested. Should I give it the benefit of the doubt?
Argenueau is PNR right? *shakes head* not doing that for now but will keep it in mind for when I want to read PNR.
@Mello - OMG!! You are staring the Lies of Locke Lamora! I love that book :) Cannot wait to hear what you think of it. @Claire - Duane is right. Jennifer Estep's Bigtime series is pretty cute - and complete as far as I know. That is always a plus.
@Arushi - Kitty Norville is entertaining - she's not the biggest or baddest wolf in town, but she manages to get things done. I enjoyed reading the series, and it seems you and I have read almost all the same books.Oh, and on the Bloodhound Files, book six is supposed to be the last in the series, and I found it to be rather stupid and, as far as endings go, completely disappointing.
hey duane :-) yep, we do have really similar taste in books so I will give kitty norville a chance.. and add it to my TBR pile. Regarding the last bloodhound book - I've heard its not a good end to the series so I am not excited to get to it.. but eill do it eventually. Might as well see how it ends.
I held off on Dresden Files because I thought all the hooplah surrounding it would make me expect too much, and I'd get disappointed. Um no. I was more than impressed! So when you get a chance, I would read it and not wait ;)
^^ what she saidHarry is awesome.... The first couple of books aren't that exciting, but once you get into the series.... I loved it personally.
I, of course, fully support the reading of Dresden Files.@Arushi I decided to read the Lies of Locke Lamara because I remembered that you really loved it.
I really want to read the Dresden files just waiting for some free time since I won't be able to stop once I start and there are sooooo many books already.
You will never get it done if you keep waiting for the right time. While waiting more and more books will come out. :x
Humm I might give it a try after Red Country. I am more likely to read it if I am not planning to read it, than if I am. Sigh. I am so contradictory. But I do know that since all of you love it, once I start, I'd be reading it all in one go :)
@Mello - Oh.. thats good then :) I am sure you will love it!
I just finished my 3rd book this month,
A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin. My next book is
Vision Impossible (Psychic Eye Mystery, #9) by Victoria Laurie
I just finished my 4th book this month,
Vision Impossible (Psychic Eye Mystery, #9) by Victoria Laurie. My next book is
Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
@ Lannister - Ooh, Let me know what you think of it?Its been on my radar for a while...and I know one of my local bookstores has it in stock! )
I'm not sure what to read next. I think I read almost all the Molly Harper books available on amazon. Eeek.
You read A Witch's Handbook to Kisses and Curses and the anthology of An Undead in my Bed with Jessica Sims and um Katie Macallister--it has a short story about the woman who opened that place in town to cater to vamps (Undead Sublet I think)and it comes before Witch's? It was a cute short, there is another I forget, the GR page for the series has a more complete list.
