What are you reading?
I stumbled upon a freebie
with interesting take on mythology. I'm not very far along and it seems to be a first book from this author so the pacing could benefit from some polishing but overall enjoyable so far.

I've already ordered up DR's second book, so I think I'll hold off on the DR thread until I get the third one read as well. Won't take long, so I should be able to catch up with y'all pretty quick in the thread.
And I've ordered up the third of Price's. I hate that I'll have to wait til August (!!!) for the fourth!
Finishing up "A Fractured Light" by Jocelyn Davies and then onto "Swift" by Heather London. (Swift was a first reads-goodreads giveaway win! So excited!!!)
Maryori wrote: "I'm reading A Lot Like Love by Julie James"I read a couple of her books. as far as contemporary romance goes, those are fun :) plus I like the lawyer politics lol
Maryori wrote: "I'm reading A Lot Like Love by Julie James"Must admit I'm not familiar with this author. But welcome to the group!! :)
Welcome to the reread club Gin! We have a thread about this series, but there are some spoilers. Though I suppose if you've read before it's not going to totally ruin anything.I'll be starting Secrets of the Demon tonight.
I like that Kara is a cop with all the difficulties involved in keeping her summoning abilities separate from her day job. Keeps an interesting stress on.

PS Welcome!
I need to actually finish
. I read up to a little over halfway when I was on my trip and it's getting pretty good (hate the characters, though), but I didn't get to read much then and haven't been able to start again since I've been back. I have so many books, though.
Kathy wrote: "I like that Kara is a cop with all the difficulties involved in keeping her summoning abilities separate from her day job. Often either the supernatural creatures are 'out', or the main character stumbles upon them (like discovering vampires exist or whatever) and you deal with their reaction to the discovery.
But Kara lives in a 'normal' world, and she has one special skill that she's been using for years. And if her co-workers find out, they'll think she's a satan-worshipping nutjob!
December 31, 2012, allegedly.
I read the first book by Allison Pang...the little unicorn annoyed me too much. Did it improve in book 2?
@Mello It's a good series, and since it's going supposed to be a trilogy or something you'd be done with it in no time.@Valerie I definitely think it gets better. The little unicorn (is his name Flynn??) will never be a favorite character of mine, but I enjoyed the story enough to keep on reading. I'm glad I did, the ending of book 2 was very interesting.
I finally broke down and made an actual list of all the series I ever started...I have so many! I think that it went into the category...nope, forgot to put it in. It's going to go into Ongoing but No Rush category....cause I have 46 other series I am dying to read and 76 others that I am trying to read as they come out. I think I'm drowning in series...and sinking fast.My list from another GR group if you want to laugh at me: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

I'll check out the thread. I've already read the first 3
Thanks Valerie, I just went through them and there was a lot I didn't know about. More for my to read list.
Yeah, I've been reading Allison Pang's series. The unicorn is Phineas and I like the little perv. I like the twist she has on it, although I haven't been particularly impressed with her writing.

Thanks!!
@Jax - I think "Ashes of Honor" was the best of the series - and I LOVE the series. I think it's my top rated series at this point in time.
Awww, you're just falling for Tybalt... Althogh I do agree about the series. I love the combination of Toby, the unexpected knight with all her issues, and how she turns the fae world on its head.
Agreed. I can't believe it took me so long to read that series, but I'm a bonafide October Daye fan now. It quickly became one of my favorites.@Claire Awesome. I'll check Abby Sinclair out soon.

They're really good... and fun like you say, they're like close to reality & really romantics that's why I love to read Julie's books, and books about police and FBI and powerful womens are really entertained.

You should read her books they're awesome :3 "totally love them"
Claire wrote: "I'm beginning to think that I shouldn't wait for the group read!"No, no. You should wait so there are a decent amount of people that haven't read them yet reading them for the first time.
I'd forgotten we were doing a group read of it, or I may not have read them all at once the way I did. I hadn't planned on it. I was just reading the first one because it fit in a challenge and I'd had it for months already. I just got so sucked in.
I may have found something else to keep me occupied in the mean time. I just wish I could participate in the discussion!
I'm sure there will still be much discussion once the rest of you start reading. The Toby books keep you on your toes.
Just finished Lilith Saintcrow's Mindhealer and I'm praying she doesn't write any more of this insanely stupid drivel. Talk about whiney! I hate having this compulsion to read out a series...!
Hummm... I have her The Demon's Librarian . I just dunno when I will get to it.. coz her Dante Valentine series was just okay to me. I guess I will give Mindhealer a pass for sure.
The "Demon's Librarian" was not bad at all - at least she didn't whine the whole time. Her Jill Kismet's weren't all that bad either, although Jill whined some; at least you could figure out the ending of the Kismet books - unlike the Dante Valentie's.
I know by the end of Dante Valentine, had I been Jaf, I would have let the bitch hit the ground after she jumped off the building in frustration. Better to die a slow, miserable death because your Heidera is dead, then to be whined and mistrusted for eternity.

Well, if she did that then we'd have another whiner on our hands after two books! LOL! I did enjoy The Demon's Librarian, though. Not sure how I would feel about a series. Lilith tends to make her characters too dark and depressing, and every once in awhile you need one with some humor to them to lighten the mood.
@Kathy - In that case, I'll read it. Tho I dunno when. Schedule is all full :( @Duane - LMAO! If that were how it worked, most of the guys (or girls) in PNR would have offed the other half of their couple AGES ago. Jaf is... something else. I am not sure where he gets all that patience, but Dante definitely makes him use it.
(view spoiler)
I have said this for many couples, (WHAT DID HE SEE IN HER??!!) but not usually for women who can fight, but damn Dante makes it hard to root for her.
True enough. Be sure to not read her books under her pseudonym, Lily Saint Crow. If memory serves, they're YA and make her Saintcrow books look really good!
Yeah, I have them, but they are in the long-wait-to-read-queue; too many things ahead of them to get to first. ;-)

I'm starting the third book, Secrets of the Demon, in my reread tomorrow and am looking forward to it. I'm still enjoying it every bit as much on my second read as I did first time round, and that's definitely the sign of a good series!
