Is it really next month?!!! You just made my day!!!!!
Zeenat wrote: "did you finish Jane True? or the first 5 books, since the series isn't done yet lol"No, I haven't. I read book 1, and then for some reason skipped to the Demonica series. I think I'll finish Wraith's book, then go back to Jane True.
Lure of the Wicked (Dark Mission, #2) by Karina Cooper@ Gin:
I can’t remember how I came across it, but I was not expecting too much from it. I love fantasy, hell my first book that I read that did not have to deal with school was a fantasy book. ( Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson .) I don’t read too much YA though … awesome book. I could not put it down till I was done with it. (Hi sleepless night) ewwies @ their being 1 year between the books … torture damnit torture.
Freaking conspiracy….
I just finished my 7th book this month,
Heartsick (Gretchen Lowell, #1) by Chelsea Cain. My next book is
Sweetheart (Gretchen Lowell, #2) by Chelsea Cain

I know fortunately I read it later in the year, so my wait hasn't been as long. I usually hold out on YA books and wait to read the ones that the people I trust rave on about.

@Alina :Personally I really liked the book, I have read it a few times. I haven't read the rest of the series yet though. :(

I`ve noticed that it`s a case of you either love it or hate it. I liked it well enough and the world-building too even if it could have been more elaborate.

Valerie, the second book wasn't quite as good as the first one, but I still really enjoyed it (so four stars instead of five). It takes quite a massive plot turn compared to the first book, which I know some people didn't like (I didn't mind at all). My biggest complaint was that a couple of times Amelia put herself in unnecessary danger, which didn't entirely make sense to me, but it's a fairly small complaint.
I've always loved mystery stories and this series has so many, and that keeps me coming back. I also think the author pulls off the slightly creepy, supernatural aspects really well. It's not like most UF that I read, and I think that's why I like it so much. It's like a breath of fresh air.
Dweller on the Threshold (Beri O'Dell, #1) by Rinda ElliottThis was an interesting UF. It mentioned vamps, werewolves, and elves, but they didn’t show in the main part of the story. It kept the focus on demons/evolved bad karma, and an off shoot, and not oft used, portion of greek mythology.
I just finished my 8th book this month,
Sweetheart (Gretchen Lowell, #2) by Chelsea Cain. My next book is
The Third Circle (The Arcane Society, #4) by Amanda Quick

@Alina I would say it is. I loved Dragos and Pia.
@Sarah The HEA is in the second book for the Dark Duet books.
Finished
. I loved it.Starting
I'm reading
which I must say, this series just gets better and better with each book!I've also started
which is kind of falling a little flat for me.
Claire wrote: "@Mello the Selkie book looks like a fun beach read type thing. What are your thoughts?"It probably would be. It's a steamy PNR. I know the author, too and she's good peoples. She also has a mythology PNR series that's pretty good.
@Alina You're welcome!
It stinks! Usually by May I don't have to worry about carrying a jacket around with me. It was even chilly in D.C.
Mark of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #1) by Diana RowlandRe-read because I finally got Sins of the Demon … I know I am missing 1 more book, but my cheap gene is still hopeful that it will come through too.
You people own jackets? I have a couple of hoodies, but that is it.
When I lived in WA state for a couple of years I never owned an umbrella, I did have a good jacket to repel the water though. Hrm, never used a jacket when I lived in LA either, hell I don’t even think I wore one. Course I remember in the 5-years that I lived there I turned the heater on a handful of times if even that much.

I have to say, that I preferred the second more. While reading the 1st one, I couldn't quite focus on it and my mind wondered all the time. And with the second book, I got sucked right into the plot. It was more creepy then the first and I just couldn't put it down.
Today I've finished
and I have to say that I really really liked it, but I can't stop thinking that something is lacking in it. I can't quite put a finger on it but somehow I feel a little bit disappointed and I really don't know why :/
Margo, I'm maybe about 60% through The Prophet and I am liking it so far but I'll wait till I've finished before I judge it.I did love the first book. The only thing I didn't like was Amelia's continual thoughts about how attracted she was to Devlin. This is probably because too much romance bores me silly. But the story was really good.
I liked that the second book went in a completely different direction, which was quite unexpected. I had no idea when I started it that it was set in an entirely different place, but I thought it worked really well because it kept everything new and exciting. I just felt there were a couple of times when Amelia took unnecessary risks. She wasn't a ballsy, confrontational UF type of character and I thought it felt a little odd that she would continually confront danger when, by her own admission, she was scared. If a character's actions don't seem realistic, I can't lose myself in the story and that's why I knocked a star off. But I still really enjoyed the book. And I love Angus LOL!
I like that the third one's back in Charleston and picking up there again, but I don't want to go into this one too much until I've finished it. That's a shame that you felt something was missing. Do you think the characters weren't measuring up or what?
Despite a couple of small niggles, I've enjoyed this series hugely (so far!). It feels different to most UF books because of its creepy atmosphere and I love that. I've just found out book four isn't due till 2014 and I'm a bit sad about that. :(

The missing aspects in the 3rd book weren't the characters so much as a situations or conversations. Some where too long and didn't have any purpose for me and some really important situations were just... I don't know how to say it... too brief or insufficient.
Claire wrote: "It stinks! Usually by May I don't have to worry about carrying a jacket around with me. It was even chilly in D.C."Yeah, I've been wearing a jacket or at least a cardigan all the time, too. I hate it. I want warm weather!

Finished:Blood of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #2) by Diana Rowland
I second the Dresden files; I think that is the best pick of the bunch. That series gets waaay better as it progresses. The iron druid chronicles were okay, but not ‘omgihavetoreadthenext’-ish. I read cast in shadow, but not the rest of the series, I think it is a good book if you want to read that sort of thing (fantasy).
