D.C. (dcmallory) | 152 comments @Arushi - Yes I'm back; I figured I'd put up a real pic just so everyone can see how old I really am! Just kidding. Although I bet I'm closer to old than young.
Of course, with my twisted sense of humor that might not really be me. ;-)

Blood Trade was a good book. Everyone should like it. It has Bruiser in it in a new role, so the women folk should be down with it. I get a little tired of Jane bragging on herself, but then she is pretty bad-assed, so I guess she gets bragging rights. I'm thinking I should put a review of it up on my site, but I just haven't got around to it. Need to take care of a giant pain first.

But it feels good to be back - almost like coming home - plus I missed ragging on y'all. LOL!

I've got it and will be reading it soon.

I finished Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs and really liked it. Also finished Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian which I didn't enjoy too much, but will read the next one to see how it goes.

Starting Changeling (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon, #2) by Yasmine Galenorn

Arushi | 3652 comments Missed you too Duane :) Glad u r back!!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Maybe I should give Discount Armageddon (InCryptid, #1) by Seanan McGuire a try since I'm up-to-date on the October series.

I'm done with The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens and finishing Beauty Awakened (Angels of the Dark, #2) by Gena Showalter

i m | 6 comments Both the Incrypted books are great. They're filled with fun characters and lots of wildlife!

message 2206: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments The InCryptid books are very different from October Daye Series. Not as serious and very fun! Very DIFFERENT.

message 2207: by i m (new)

i m | 6 comments And, personally, I think the Incrytid Series are the only ones that have "website" stories I don't rate as two star efforts. I like reading up on the ancestors to the Price clan. "All Hail the Violent Priestess!"

Then again, I liked the Tybalt story, too, but that can't be considered a "website" story as it came from an anthology. It was interesting that Tybalt always had some compassion to him; guess that's why he is drawn to October - she seems to need someone to care about her.

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I think the InCryptid books might be my favorite over Toby

message 2209: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I think two books is too hard for me to judge... but it may very well be ahead of the Toby books! Although as far as book boyfriends go, I prefer Tybalt to Dominic LOL

message 2210: by i m (new)

i m | 6 comments The problem with the Incrypted novels is one thing that has always bothered me in books. The next two books are about the brother. Then we can assume the next two will be Antimony, who will probably nab another "traitor" away, just to keep up with all the Price/Healys. I like series that have the same main people, such as October, Dory, Kate, well, you get the picture. While the Incrypted books are good, at least so far, I'll have to stick with October because she will stick with me.

Old fashioned, but....

Oh, and I've made great headway on the family tree. I'll take some notes on the rereads, but without input from Seanan, I guess that;s as far as we can go.

message 2211: by D.C. (new)

D.C. (dcmallory) | 152 comments Geeze, look at that! Changed browsers and it logged me in as my alter-ego. Wow. What I said as i m still goes - family tree going good.

message 2212: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments The next two are Alex, then I think Verity again for one, then there is going to be with Antimony, and I think Alice..but the only for sure ones are the one two alex and then verity, since her contract isn't renewed yet.

message 2213: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I love the InCryptid books. I'd prefer that they stayed with Verity, but I really love what I've read about Antimony.

Margo | 663 comments Okay, so recently I've finished Dark Swan Bundle Storm Born, Thorn Queen, Iron Crowned & Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead and really enjoyed this series, although I'm not quite sure what I think about the end, to be honest I have mix feelings. Sometimes I think it was good, the other times I'm not sure it was a wise decision, but anyway, I liked the series.

I've also read Shaedes of Gray (Shaede Assassin, #1) by Amanda Bonilla and I liked it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to continue the series or not. For now, I'm putting the series away.

I was really disappointed with Reaper's Property (Reapers MC, #1) by Joanna Wylde :/. The book in itself is not bad, but it kind of felt like bad imitation of Kristen Ashley's books :(.

The book which shocked me, 'cause I wasn't expecting to really like it was Close Liaisons (The Krinar Chronicles, #1) by Anna Zaires , which BTW is still available for free on Smashwords. I've finished it yesterday and immediately bought and just finished reading the next book in this series Close Obsession (The Krinar Chronicles, #2) by Anna Zaires . Both books are really great read and I'm waiting for the next book to come out. Hope it would be soon.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Done with Rogue's Pawn by Jeffe Kennedy .
I was very surprised that I actually liked this book. I loved the witty remarks that Gwen made while she tried to mesh concepts of her own reality with her adventures.
I don't know much about fae lore but it was central to the world building of this story...problem was that it was not explained. It made for interesting reading because you assume things to go a certain way....and doesn't. I think that I liked to hate the 'hero', which made the story more interesting in the end.

I loved the Bloodhound Files, but this was my least favorite book of the bunch - the whole book just didn't sit well with me. All becomes clear about halfway through the book and it starts to get better, but it still falls short of the previous books. I hated the ending completely.

Perhaps its this way because it's the last book in the series and he needed to tie up some loose ends?

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments I finished Darkling (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon #3) by Yasmine Galenorn last night. Reading The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner now.

So it really is the last one? Damn, but seriously so far I'm not liking it :/

message 2225: by D.C. (new)

D.C. (dcmallory) | 152 comments @Margo - Well, his website says it is - I checked when I was done with the book to see if I was mistaken because of the ending but that's it - when you get to the ending you will see what I mean about it being convoluted. Without spoiling it I can't tell you why he did it that way, but the ending was just left hanging. One sentence is all it would have taken to set things straight, but that sentence was not forthcoming. I mean, I know what I would have done in Jace's shoes, but....

If it makes you feel any better, the book does pick up - I've read worse. Much, much worse.

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Just finished Trapped (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #5) by Kevin Hearne . I really enjoyed it, though I'm a little surprised by the sudden romance. Okay, sudden to me. It's been developing for a while, but most of the development occurred off stage. I can't decide if I'm disappointed by the lack of build up or refreshed by the lack of drama.

Anyway I'm solidly hooked on the characters and I'm excited for the next one to come out.

That's exactly what I thought. That one sentence? "I'm already home."

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Margo wrote: "Finished Undead to the World (The Bloodhound Files, #6) by D.D. Barant and although it does get better halfway through, the ending just ruins it completely. I mean, seriously who the hell ends the series like that?"

It's almost like he does not have another contract for more books but wants to leave on the possibility of another. Even if this is the worst of the series...I liked that the author tried 'every' variation on the same theme. I have to admit that for a serial killer to obsess on only Jace....every take was different. I personally liked the comic book theme.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Finished with Blood Rebellion (Blood Destiny, #7) by Connie Suttle and reading with delight Lone Wolf (Shifters Unbound #4.6) by Jennifer Ashley .

That's exactly it. He didn't get the contract renewed but was hoping for it in the future. I didn't like the way it ended cause it was so hurried.

I am on Doubletake (Cal Leandros, #7) by Rob Thurman . This series has grown on me. I really like the last few books.

What … a … long … book.

Pfft and I had thought sam and Alyssa finally getting together took too many books, that was only like 6 or so … this was a few more than that….

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 2012 comments It's long because Ward added too many other peoples' stories to it. She could have saved some of that for later.

message 2241: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments Thanks Claire! I haven't read Conner Grey yet. I'm reading Cal Leandros right now, and it took me a bit to get into it, but now I'm hooked.

Have you read the Jane True series yet? It's pretty light UF kinda like Cassie books, and Jane is a lot like Cassie in many ways. I think they're fun, and the last book is coming out this May. I really like the Elemental Assasin series too. Have you read that one?

I agree. It seems like Ward is finally trying to give the girl a backbone, but Xcor and Layla are Z and Bella ver. 2.0.

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments I have never liked layla ... and xcor has turned into a weakass ... I agree on the extra story bits. I just wanted the main story, I could have done without the myriad other ones.
The thing with assail ... and xcor ... they do bad thinggs ... I don't want to sympathize with them or get the angst from their stories. It is like a set up for something and I hope she doesn't pull a 180 and voila it is all okay bit with them.

I liked and read the story mainly because of qhuinn and blay.

Exactly why I read and liked it, too. I could have done without that other stuff and her trying to redeem Xcor and Assail is so stupid to me.

message 2249: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 3652 comments Claire - I have a read a few Cal Leandros books and its a good series. I also have read the Connor Grey series book 1.. and will continue it later. Its a good series, completely UF and the coolest thing is that Connor does not have any powers - well not really. He used to be this uber powerful druid but now - he is almost the same as a human. So he uses his brains and plain detective skills to solve stuff - not magic.

message 2250: by D.C. (new)

D.C. (dcmallory) | 152 comments @Claire - I would have to agree with Zeenat on this - the Jane True series would be an excellent choice. The last book in the series comes out this May, so it's a series you could read and complete in a small amount of time.

I can't wait for the last book, but it makes me sad the series is over because it was always fun to read.
