Me too! I'm vain enough to admit that I started reading it because of the cover but soon found out that there was a pretty good story for a PNR novel. Sadly I have yet to decide on purchasing the shorts or just wait for the next book.

I decided to read it because of the cover, too, but it turned out to be pretty darn good. I haven't decided if I'm going to buy the shorts, either, but I'll definitely be reading the next book.

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments The cover didn't influence me! I am so funny....

I have read both shorts (am in the middle of the madame morpho one--preparing for book 2!), I rather liked them.
The latest short tells part of Casper's story in prep for the next book sorta.
Poor Casper falling for the wrong woman more than once!

Did you like Slayer's Kiss? I was thinking about reading it, and is it a standing alone book or a series?

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Ahaha I have Wicked as They Come on my TBR pile as well.

I might start it after I finished the Iron druid chronicles, but I'm not sure.

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Criminey is awesome ... he knows what he wants and gets it while pushing the limits where he can. :x
Right now he is one of my fav male characters in a series.

There is only 1 full book and 2 shorts in that series atm, the 2nd book is slated to come out near the end of this month I think.

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) started vN (The Machine Dynasty, #1) by Madeline Ashby , so far a tad confusing - there's heaps of weird tech jargin that pretty much makes no sense to me, lol. also im finding the start a little...slow. though it has started picking up a bit :)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I'm reading Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch . Not sure if it's passing the credibility test, but I'll keep going.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Diane wrote: "Did you like Slayer's Kiss? I was thinking about reading it, and is it a standing alone book or a series?"

Slayer's Kiss is a series. I got it as a freebie on Amazon a week or two ago. The story was interesting but certain plot elements were like dumped without adding much to the story. I honestly think an editing would not have gone amiss but the angel/other race was a nice angle.

Started Ashes of Honor (October Daye, #6) by Seanan McGuire . I love the Toby series, I really do but they are depressing to read.

message 2164: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments I wouldn't consider Ashes of Honor depressing :)

I loved this book even though it is pretty over the top. I love Kitty. <3

Finished Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward and I really liked it. It seems most of the people I know that have read it didn't, but it worked for me. Despite that cheesy ass last line.

Starting Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley

Might I suggest you hold off on Cast in Peril?
Cast In Sorrow is set for release 27 Aug - and I'd recommend waiting for it before starting Peril!!

Not that you HAVE to... but considering where Cast in Peril ends... You may want the next novel on hand... :)

It's the first book in The Monk's Hill Witch series. I'll be waiting for #2. Very different concept on supernatural creatures. Giving it a 3and half to a 4. Which I usually give first books, unless it was really bad.

D.C. (dcmallory) | 152 comments Like Jax, I too have been in a reading slump. I think I've only read 1 book in the last couple of weeks, and that was Blood Trade (Jane Yellowrock, #6) by Faith Hunter ; it took me about a week to manage this. Normally I would have knocked out a book like this in a few hours.

Right now I'm reading Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Administration Real World Skills for Red Hat Administrators by Sander van Vugt ; nice and dry. This will definitely take more than a week to get through.

message 2194: by D.C. (new)

D.C. (dcmallory) | 152 comments Yes, I used your suggestion on checking it out!

Seems like an OK book so far. The way all the technical books start out treat you like an imbecile; then again, I guess alot of us are. I really just want to see what Red Hat has added to their stuff, as I've use Suse Enterprise Linux over the last few years. Here in the US RHEL seems to be more popular.

I'd rather be reading the "Black Wings" series by Christina Henry, but, you know, priorities....

There's so much in my head I can never find anything anymore; not so good most of the time. And I took Spanish in HS too, right along with Latin. I refuse to use either of them now. LOL!
