What are you reading?
Kyo was actually one of my fave characters in the Dark Swan series. LOL
We have a thread for it from a group read. Maybe you want to read it, Llaph. Could be fun.

Driving Mr. Dead is a great novella - I read it a few times. Then again, I like all of Molly Harper's books.
I just finished my 6th book this month, titled
Daughter of Darkness (Kindred #1)by V.C. Andrews. My next book is
Blood Price (Victoria Nelson, #1) by Tanya Huff
@ Sarah:Our opinions on some things are so opposite it is scary. Lol It is nice to talk/read other’s opinions on books. It makes a person see things in another way; it is much more entertaining than what I used to do. Which was talk it over with myself in my head … no arguing with yourself there.
I might look @ that thread and finish the series; I stopped at 2 when I read the blurb for 3. I know that there are 4 books and I do not have it yet … I will save the read when I have all of them. Maybe I will see things differently and not h8 on Kyu as much.
You wouldn’t happen to prefer Pepsi to coke would you?
@ Duane:
Molly Harper is one of my favorite authors to read when I need a laugh; I have read everything of hers. (Except her first book.)
@Llaph,
Molly Harper does have a great sense of humor. I find myself laughing out loud at her antics, and find people staring at me like I'm a moron!

@ Duane:I have had people come and check on me to see if I was okay. They should be used to my random snickering ... but with her books I have laughed out loud a few times. <>
Quick reads ...
The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires (Half Moon Hollow, #2) by Molly Harper
The teaser for the 3 rd book and no pub date beyond 2013 is wrong. There is not even a blurb on its GR page. :(
Changes (The Dresden Files, #12) by Jim Butcher and
Side Jobs: Stories From the Dresden Files (The Dresden Files, #12.5) by Jim Butcher
@ Val:Working through Gost Story now ... I was able to get Cold Days. Too bad it is not a DTP (digital talking book) and it is TTS, I will miss the reader's voice. Hard to hear sarcasm without a real person reading it.
@ Margo:
I like that book a lot. I have not been able to get the others which sucks. I do like the world she made for the most part. I don't see where it is like Angel's Blood though. I probably haven't looked too hard.
@ Margo:I totally see that now that you pointed it out. I think though that is digging pretty deep for a comparison. ;)
@ Zeenat:
All aboard imo.
@Margo I see the similarity too. But I think the attitude in the worlds are pretty different. The archangels series is a lot darker. And I can't explain it, but I really liked that book too.
@ Llaph :Believe me I didn't dig deep at all, actually I didn't even try it was the first thing that came to my mind while reading it
@ Claire:
Agree on attitude. I love the Dark Side of Raphael when Dragos was just... not so dark? I don't know. I liked both books and I love Guild Hunter series but the way Dragos was speaking was too modern and too human. I didn't think that he's scary at all. The only scary thing the guy had was his roar.
Starting
I just finished my 7th book this month, titled
Undeadly (The Reaper Diaries #1)by Michele Vail . My next book is
Sorcerer's Apprenticeby Tahir Shah
@ Margo:I know what you mean by that. I read a book and the first part of it made me think right away, "WTF this is like the hollows!" The book did not get very far in being original as I read along either ... even the demon in the book reminded me of Al. The other parts were original though ... if she would have done things differently I might have liked the book more.
Dragos was a weird mix of old and new to me. I still liked him though, the parts when he said "please" made me laugh. The part about going to the kitchens and asking for a ziploc bag also was lol worthy to me.

This is a great book. The next in the series, Midnight Blue-Light Special, comes out March 5, 2013, I believe.

I ditto the sentiment
@ Gin:I don't know if mine counts, but I add in that I thought it was an awesome book too. Pretty different ...
I love the summary! I think I read this description before but elected not to read the book. I think I will now, though.I can say, I'd prefer a tango to many things!
I just finished my 8th book this month, titled
Sorcerer's Apprenticeby Tahir Shah . My next book is

@Duane, Zeenat, and Llaph You guys were right! I'm only about 1/3 into
and I'm loving it all ready!! Funny MC with lots of "one liners" usually annoy me, but I love Verity's humor. The whole damn book is quotable!
@Mello I read the short story about those two in the Dates from Hell anthology and really liked it. But I couldn't even get through the first Women of the Otherworld book, I hated it so much. How much would I miss by skipping the books about Elena?
I didn't like book 1, either. If you skipped all of the books about Elena, you'd miss a lot. All of the characters are connected to one another and events that happen in one book influence things in later books. For instance, if you don't read the second book where Elena is the MC, you will miss a lot of info about the other supernaturals and how the werewolves find out they aren't the only supes around. You'll also miss what's so significant about Savannah and when you get to Eve's book, you'll probably be confused a little. Plus, books 3 and 4 feature a heroine that Elena meets in book 2. Elena isn't as awful as she is in book 1. By the end of book 1, she's made up her mind about what she wants in life and settles down with Clay. She still has some issues with him in book 2, but she's dealt with it by the end of the book. Besides, for most of the book, they aren't even in the same place.
Hmm...if I can convince myself, I may go back and finish book 1 by virtue of skimming.I just don't really want to pay for a book I know I'm probably not going to like.
Understandable. I actually really liked the second book. Most likely because of the events that were going on in it. I probably never would have read it if I hadn't bought it at the same time that I'd bought book 1. That first book bored me to no end and I didn't like Elena at all. I like most of the other heroines a lot, though. Especially Eve.
Are they doing a movie or tv series about the Women of the Otherworld books? No, sorry...i think it was made at the beginning of 2000 and was not very good.
Claire wrote: "I love the summary! I think I read this description before but elected not to read the book. I think I will now, though.I can say, I'd prefer a tango to many things!"
With your dancing background, i think you would like it. It's not mentioned much as her actually doing it. But there are tons of references.

@Claire I'd say at least give book 2 a chance and if you still don't like it, you may want to stop.
Dammit, Zeenat, now you've got me re-reading the "BigTime" series; and to think I just finished re-reading the "White Trash Zombies" series. I must be loosing my mind!
Duane wrote: "Dammit, Zeenat, now you've got me re-reading the "BigTime" series; and to think I just finished re-reading the "White Trash Zombies" series. I've tried and tried to read book 1 also, and could never get into it. I'm going to have to suffer through it one day because everyone seems to love the series. Maybe I'll try the audio.
I don't have a ton of hope for getting through it, but everyone seems to love it so might as well try
I felt the exact same way you guys did. I did not get why the series was so popular because book 1 sucks. I love just about everything after that, though.
The first book in that series was the first ever pnr/uf'ish book I ever read ... It led me to other books which I like a lot more. I don't think I finished the last 2 or 3 books. Just got tired of it, if that makes sense?@ Claire:
Speaking from experience having the book read to you makes things a lot easier. Granted I listen to my books either way, but TTS is a lot different than a person actually reading the book.
A recent example would be the Dresden files, I read the first with TTS and part of the second. I was too annoyed with it to read farther. I checked my other library site (it only has talking books and is really limited compared to the other), and saw that they had the whole series--minus a few anthologies.
Listening to them made me like them a whole lot more. The sarcasm, pauses, and voice differences for each character made it easier to get into and enjoy.
I am caught up as I finished Cold Days last night, I did not like the fact I had to TTS it, but it was easier for me to read it.

Dark Swan ... o ... m ... g ... That series made me wear an angry face for a while. Riu (or however you spell his name) was a wuss and I cannot believe she just did not kill his weak ass off. (Can you tell I don't like his character?) Not saying Dorian is a better choice, but anything would have been better.
Oh yeah, my book:
Driving Mr. Dead (Half Moon Hollow, #1) by Molly Harper
BTW not a good idea to post RQ when you took an ambien and it has kicked in.
