I just 'chatted' with customer service and learned that you get your monthly credit(s) on the exact date and time that you signed up for membership. They gave me the credit now to make sure I wouldn't have to wait until tonight (I don't remember what time I signed up!) and I also upgraded to 2 credits a month so I won't have to wait anymore, hopefully! Ok I got the review thing figured out, I had to click in the first box of the review questions then the pop up for freeform comes up.
I feel that the incremental price for a second book makes more sense than paying quite a bit for just one. Actually, I'm thinking of asking for a hiatus soon, as the ones on my wishlist are ones that look (at least somewhat) promising, but aren't truly exciting.
I am a long time Gold plan member and one book a month is the number I am willing to pay full credit price - and then supplement with whisper sync deals mostly as those are usually less than $5. I end out ahead on the average price that way!
Can anyone please add the Audio version of "Any Other Name", by Craig Johnson? The only way I got to it was by going to the Walt Longmire series link. Thank you.
I was notified today that the search feature for searching "my books" has been fixed but it is still not working for me. Is anyone else still having trouble searching your owned books?
I still do. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Library management is so nasty. Most times when I go to my library it shows blank. I have to click "preorders" then click "library" again to get it to list anything. This is in both chrome and IE. Then when I try to search it, it often finds the book in the search box, and I click it, but then nothing actually happens. It has been like this for years. I get sick of emailing defects honestly. But hey, at least they try, and spend development effort putting in and then taking out rubbish that none of their customers actually want...
Anyone else here able to get their wish list to sort now? Before the updates, whenever I tried sorting my wish list (eg click on the Author link to sort by author) it would make a half hearted attempt to sort my wishlist. It would work on the first page, but when paging through it was a bit flakey, so I might see the same book on subsequent pages.Anyhow, now, when I click on one of the sort columns, the screen redraws, and my wishlist just 100% disappears.

I have 345 books in mine :p
I noticed some improvements to the sort function the other day. The sort stayed as I paged through the list, unlike it's previous performance.
This really is odd then. I've tried different browsers too, as well as on my mobile, and the wishlist just disappears for me when I try to sort.
Michael wrote: "This really is odd then. I've tried different browsers too, as well as on my mobile, and the wishlist just disappears for me when I try to sort."This happens frequently to me, but usually I just hit refresh and it all comes back.
No the refresh isn't working. It isn't like the "empty library issue" where it shows an empty table until you refresh. It is just totally gone, no header, no columns. And mobile, and PC
No one has mentioned my complaint. Books are usually downloaded to my computer in two or three parts ("to make the download go faster") then I listen on my IPOD. I am a chronic relistener to my favorite books. Often, I just want to revisit certain scenes. BUT every time a second or third part starts, the numbering of chapters starts over at ONE! And the number of chapters in each segment varies, I guess according to length. So it's really hard to find the parts I want.Would it really cost Audible THAT much more to number the chapters properly?
I've suggested this before, Margaret, so thanks for the reminder. Please fix, Audible!

Margaret: The suggestion I received from Audible on this issue was to download the entire book as one segment. If you have enough space on your device that would solve the chapter renumbering problem. I don't do that, and have decided to live with the resetting chapter numbers instead of downloading the bigger files. At least Apple recent OS's allow one segment downloads now.
I wanted to add the audio version of this book to my list of books I'm reading but it isn't listed as an option. I don't see the ISBN on the Audible site. How can I add it? http://www.audible.com/pd/Bios-Memoir...
I am frustrated by the same issue Margaret! This is especially annoying if I fall asleep listening or if I am distracted before I can turn my device off. Getting back to where I left off is time consuming too.

I preordered Allegiance on amazon and it will be out on june 10. I went to pre-order the audiobook but I can't tell if it's whispersync.also, I can't tell if I can get the whispersync book deal for $1.99 like I did with books 1-3. I don't want to use a credit if i can get it for $1.99

I'd suggest waiting. Whispersync is one of those things that I've noticed is sometimes not instantaneous (eg it is released then a few months later shows as whispersync - eg the Steve Konkoly Perseid Collapse. Sometimes patchy - eg The Breakers series books 1-3 are, book 4 isn't even if released the same day as v3.
I read a bit on that Amazon publishing site on whispersync and I believe they try to do it automatically, and give suggestions to the author on what not to do formatting to allow it work best, but if it doesn't I think it is then up to the author to follow it up (maybe revise or contact amazon publishing tech).
In all I'm honestly pretty impressed with the whole Amazon self epublishing (audiobooks also). except for the whole international rights and pricing :p. But I don't think it is Amazon (or Audibles) fault there. I expect they'd rather be able to sell their stuff to as many people possible!!! :)
With regards to ASINs: they are in fact visible on audible.com. When you're on the web page for a particular audiobook, the ASIN is listed in the URL. For example, the URL that Marilyn linked to is http://www.audible.com/pd/Bios-Memoir... . That "B00G5ONI4K" is the ASIN.

Oops got caught up in the conversation that I forgot what I came her to ask about...Why do a bunch of book on wishlist say... This item is not currently available for purchase on Audible.com. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Did you lose a contract with someone? If so how many books are affected? Will the they be coming back?
This has happened to me. Have you tried refreshing your browser? This usually brings them back - at least for me.
Jennifer (Horrendously off-topic and proud of it!) wrote: "This has happened to me. Have you tried refreshing your browser? Hey MissSusie,
This may be caused by an issue with the address you have on file. We would recommend updating/re-entering the billing address associated with your credit card and then refresh your Wish List.
You can update your address here: https://www.audible.com/billing/
If your Wish List titles are still unavailable, please email us at "social-support@audible.com".
I don't think it has anything to do with address on fileI have one in my wish list
It's that audible no longer have the rights in that country.
I put influx in my account
This is no longer available in the uk audible.
So it sits in my wish list with a message saying this title is temporarily unavailable

That has nothing to do with it I don't think because even when I search for those titles nothing comes up.
One example is The Scapegoat by Daphne du Maurier is no longer available. The version I had in my wishlist was from AudioGo.

It has nothing to do with address on file. My book, as well as many in my library have the same issue.
the audiobook no longer available from audible. wish they would darns person so you could buy it before it's too late.
Odd thing I just noticed today. Some time during the past year, I bought and downloaded "The Affair of the Chalk Cliffs" by James P. Blaylock, narrated by Richard Dadd. I recently listened to it, finished it, and deleted it from my phone. When I refreshed my Library, the narrator for that book was displayed as Drew Campbell, and sure enough, when I downloaded it again, it was a different narrator!
So audible listeners, just be aware that the edition of the audiobook you bought might change in the future unless you save it away somewhere yourself. The "Cloud" is as changeable as the wind, apparently.

After all, the narration is such an important aspect of why I buy certain audiobooks, and to have the narrator go poof... it gives me chills. I do immediately save to an external hard drive whenever I buy a new book... now there's double the reason to do it. I wonder if any of my books are different, hmmm...
Yes, I was a bit alarmed. Two of my audiobooks - both Blaylock novellas - changed narrators from Dadd to Campbell.I always download them pretty much right away too, so although I prefer Dadd's narration, no harm was done in my case. And you could argue I now have two versions of the book for the price of one :)
But I agree; the choice of narrator is key, and affects whether I buy or not. I was very surprised the edition sitting in my online library changed without warning or notification.
I hope Audible change this practice. I would think that it happens so rarely that audible could take the trouble to email the members who have purchased a title to warn them, with instructions for downloading if they want to save the version they bought.
My understanding is that we own these audiobooks - not just license them, like games on Steam - so Audible shouldn't really be able to change them after we've bought them.
HBJ
Actually, I'm mistaken. Audible content is licensed to us, not owned by us, and content in the library may change or become unavailable at any time."When you purchase Audible Content, Audible grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download or stream such Audible Content to your computer and/or other device(s) solely for your personal, non-commercial use."
... and ...
"Purchased Audible Content will generally continue to be available in your Audible Account but may become unavailable due to possible content provider licensing restrictions or other reasons, and Audible will not be liable to you if Audible Content becomes unavailable for further download. You will not receive a full or partial refund of any fees already paid in such situations. Accordingly, we encourage you to download Audible Content promptly after purchase and to make a back-up copy."
Good to know. Hopefully this is a rare event, but still, we shouldn't consider our libraries as free backup or storage of our purchases.

I've been wondering about using Cloud storage instead of downloading everything, but now I guess I won't bother. It would be different if Audible was a subscription service where we had access to books temporarily. But when we buy them, sometimes at sizable prices, they should stay the same. In theory, if the Hachette dispute continues, Amazon/Audible could make any audiobooks from that publisher unavailable and blame the publisher. So I'll keep downloading, it's not that much work. On downloading to a computer - Maybe no one else has this issue, but when a book is broken into multiple parts "to make the download faster" at first I clicked on all the parts of the book at once. But one or more would get stuck or take a really long time. Sometimes a part would be missing and I'd have to download it again. Now I just download one section at a time, each one takes 1-2 minutes and shows up right away. Maybe it's just my computer that can't handle more.
