Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hi Jennifer!

Thank you for your suggestion! We have forwarded it to the proper department to be reviewed.

We are always scanning GoodReads and taking not of all of your fantastic ideas, so even if we are not asked directly, we are still listing.

If you have any other suggestions, you can email greatideas@audible.com as well.

Happy Listening!

Joel (joelevard) the last iphone app update promised to allow you to listen to books across multiple accounts without signing in and out, but it didn't work and now I note that functionality has been scrubbed from the update notes. please consider adding this back for the next update.

message 503: by Audible Support (new)

Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hey Joel,

We apologize for any confusion. The ability to sign into to multiple accounts at the same time is still not a feature, although it is a great idea.

However, you can listen to audiobooks from a different account on the latest iOS update, but you do have to sign in/out. If you are signed into an account and download an audiobook, then sign out and into another account, that audiobook (or audiobooks) will still be available to be listened to even though it isn't associated with the account that is currently signed in.

If this does not work, please email us at social-support@audible.com so we can help you get this working.

Have a great day!

message 504: by Joel (new)

Joel (joelevard) that is what i meant, and the app isn't working that way for me. i am prompted to sign out and sign in to a different account to listen to already-downloaded titles. i will send an email.

thank you.

Ruth Ferguson (ruthdfw) | 93 comments Curious why would you have multiple accounts

message 506: by Joel (new)

Joel (joelevard) Different members of my family have been members over the years and share the accounts. You can authorize up to five devices per account.

Ann (annrumsey) | 163 comments So my question is why, now that we are hooked on the whispersync process to be able to listen and read the Kindle print copies of a book and stay in sync across devices, why are some books that are available in Kindle format and audible.com format not included?

For selected books I wouldn't have an issue with using a credit for the audio and buying the Kindle copy without needing a discount for the bundle.
Will we be able to count on knowing if whispersync will be available for audio books as we preorder, or do we have to wait until release date to know for sure?
Thanks!

message 508: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 1962 comments I would guess that the whispersync deal is a whole separate issue of rights negotiation and up to the publishers on whether they want to participate or not

message 509: by Tomerobber (new)

Tomerobber | 193 comments I think the audiobook and eBook have to be sync'd together . . . I think that is why some books are temporarily unavailable while they re-digitize them . . .

message 510: by Audible Support (new)

Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hey Ann,

To answer your first question, although we are working to make the entire Amazon and Audible library Whispersync for Voice-ready, as of now there are roughly 15,000+ matching Kindle eBook and Audible Audiobook titles with this feature enabled. We hope to include the entire Audible library and all matching Kindle eBooks in the future.

Also, the audiobook must match the ebook at at least a 97% sync-rate. Some audiobooks are narrated differently than what is printed in the ebook, thus making it difficult to sync.

As for your other question, if an audiobook that is available for pre-order is Whispersync for Voice-ready, you will see the badge next to the title before purchasing.

If you would like to request a specific audiobook become Whispersync for Voice-ready, please email content-requests@audible.com.

Happy Listening!

Hi, Audible. I'm still hoping for an unabridged version of Virginia Woolf's The Waves. You've got abridged and dramatized, but that's not unabridged. Thanks for keeping this on the table.

Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hi Osho,

Thank you for your interest in the unabridged version of Virginia Woolf's "The Waves". We have passed your request onto the proper department.

If you have any other request, please feel free to contact content-requests@audible.com.

message 513: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 163 comments Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. And I appreciate knowing the pre-orders would show whispersync in advance if available. Specifically I was referring to the new release of The Dream Thieves narrated by Will Patton.

Rebecca (themagicmonster) | 50 comments Why doesn't audible notify people who have books in their wish list before a book is no longer advailable? The Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton now has books 10-14 unadvailable. If I had received a notice I certainly would have purchased the one I had missing. Two of them have been that way for a long while. It really peeves me that we don't get told... just browse your wish list and notice that it is not advailable any more!

Hello Elise and Jennifer,

Thanks for bringing this up!

We are still fixing the credit countdown timer as it was having some problems and displaying the wrong information. We decided to remove it completely until we have it working properly. This way it can reflect that exact, wonderful moment when your new credit is available for you to use on your next great listen.

We will continue to work around the clock (no pun intended) on getting this beloved feature up and running again.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

This is a silly request, but when you do update it, could you please add an approximate time when it will arrive? If I know my credits aren't showing up until 3 PM, there's no point in checking my E-mail (relentlessly) at 9 AM.

And thank you so much for the Daily Deals!!! You are incredible :)

Hey Jennifer,

Credits are issued to your account on each billing/renewal date, after you have been successfully billed. This happens on the same date as your enrollment date each month, or each year, depending on your membership plan.

For example, someone who enrolls on Jan. 10th at 7:00PM EST for a monthly membership plan will have a renewal on the 10th of each month at 7:00PM EST. You will then receive your next credit(s) at this time.

As for including the exact time on the counter when it returns, we think this is a great idea! We have passed it along to the proper department to be evaluated.

Have a great day!

Angie (angiemb) | 231 comments Audible seems to be having problems with their new releases/just added lists. There are books not showing up on there, at least 2 in different categories that came out last week by an author that I listen to. I can't find them anywhere on either of these lists. There may be a lot missing. Every time I click on one of these lists, each page keeps repeating the same books over and over pretty much, and when it says showing 1-20, it may only be showing 9 or 10 books per page. I contacted them a few days ago about the book count per page problem, but just discovered the books not showing up last night. So if you are looking for something in particular that may be coming out soon, you might have to type it into the search box and not rely on the new releases list.

Grumpus | 473 comments I wanted to add The Map and the Territory: Risk, Human Nature, and the Future of Forecasting to my wishlist at Audible. I searched for it and found it but realized I was not signed in so I was unable to add it. After signing it, the search yielded no results. So I contacted customer service and they said it was unavailable in my area (US). I asked how was this possible since it is being promoted heavily on the news stations I watch. Back and forth emails never gave me a satisfactory explanation. So, I went to Amazon found the book, clicked on the hyperlink to Audible and put it in my wishlist. Problem solved. Gotta say for the first time in my 8 years as a customer, their customer service let me down.

Emily Klein | 26 comments Has anyone had experience with Audible on windows? First are you able to pull up a browser and listen to through a computer like you would pandora? I am not. Second can you sync between windows and android? My android version always works great, however my tablet(which is windows) doesn't sync my bookmarks or the whisper sync. Third how do I get an entire book on windows? I have catching fire downloaded on both my android phone and my windows tablet, however I've only got the first 15 chapters on the tablet app and when I try to find the rest of it on a browser I can't. WHat's up with that?

So far I've seen the reviews for windows and audible working together and they're terrible saying the same things, but I was hoping someone has figured this out by now???

Patricia (pjaye) | 447 comments Not an issue - more of a question because I'm still pretty new to audiobooks.
I have bought a few books through Audible so far.
My dad is getting older and I thought he might like to try listening to some as well.
I am buying him his first ever smart phone for Christmas (which should be interesting!)
So my question is, if I buy an audiobook for myself to listen to, can I also "lend" it to him to listen to on his phone too?
Is that OK?

John | 3948 comments To do that, you need to add his phone to your account as one of the registered devices.

CatBookMom | 1082 comments I have a different issue with my older Audible library items; some of them will no longer download to my Sansa, if I use the Audible Manager. I have to go by way of Windows Media Player. This has happened now with 3 different books, a couple from 2007 and the most recent failure was a book from 2009. It failed with both of my currently-in-use Sansa Clips. I talked at length with an Audible CS person about the first instance, and he went so far as to give me a "new" version (new download date) of the two books; but the books still wouldn't download to my Clip via Audible Manager.

Has this problem happened to anyone else? The same Clips work just fine with other books I've tried, some from as far back as 2007 (when I joined Audible).

Patricia (pjaye) | 447 comments Well I already bought dad a phone from Adli - the brand is Medion and I checked it out and it got some really good reviews on a tech forum here. All those "nerdy computer guys" seemed happy with it for their kids etc. The OS is android 4.1 jellybean.
It won't be a big deal if it doesn't work, he reads a lot and thought that he might like listening occasionally too.
So I guess I'll be able to let you know after Christmas if it works or not.

Jeanie | 4024 comments I really wish Audible would add a separate category under Mysteries and Thrillers to have a Cozy Mysteries category. I've been stumbling across the kind of cozy mysteries I like to read, but it is usually either from a mention on this group or by searching the Audible site and coming across a mention in a review or some other incidental means. I'm not an adrenalin junkie and have a low tolerance for gore so many of the other genres aren't for me. I wish there was a quick and easy way to be introduced to the kind of series that are my cup of tea.

message 534: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 575 comments Since Audible is reading this thread, I'd like to point out how thrilled I am that you are (slowly) releasing Dorothy Dunnett's books! Yay! I must say, however, that there are two series involved and since you usually put series in order and have a link to guide the reader to the rest of the series, here is the proper order for The Lymond Chronicles:

https://www.goodreads.com/series/4502...

And here is the proper order for House of Niccolo:

https://www.goodreads.com/series/4041...

I've read and reread, listened and relistened to The Lymond Chronicles. Since I'm waiting for House of Niccolo until you have them all, I wonder if they will be made available out of order, as the first one, Niccolò Rising, was first up and now you will be releasing To Lie with Lions, which is book 6 in December. If you have any choice in the matter, it would be nice if they were released in order.

I already have the audio of The Game of Kings, which was available a couple of years ago and then was removed. The narrator, Samuel Gillies, is completely inappropriate for the book. I wonder if Audible could get someone else to record it.

There is a whole world of Dunnett fans out there who would be delighted to have these books in audio format with competent and suitable narrators. There are discussion boards on Yahoo and other places where fans discuss and pick these works apart, still trying to tease out DD's meaning!

I am just chiming in here to add my voice to your request. I have been meaning to read or listen to the two Dunnett series for several years, and I'm excited about the new audiobook releases, too. But I'm reluctant to start Lymond with book 2, and am also hoping that the Niccolo books will all be available.

Thank you, Sandra, for your knowledgeable and helpful post.

This problem isn't limited to this author. I have delayed purchasing many series because the first books weren't available or there were gaps in the series. I think Audible would discover many potential readers are put off from even considering a series that they can't count on finishing. I know it isn't all under Audible's control, but, especially for a series, maximum effort in offering a completed series should be expended.

I've been watching the Charlotte MacLeod Kelling/Bittersohn series, which is complete except for books 2, 4, and 5. Hamish Macbeth was complete except for books 16-18 and 20... then they started disappearing. The Nero Wolfe series skips nearly every other book--I got this one anyway because it's less dependent on previous books, but I'd love to have the missing ones. The Agatha Raisin series has nearly all 23 or so books, but book 6 and a couple of others are missing. I could mention many more...

Jeanie, I'm glad you brought up this suggestion! Since I love to narrate cozy mysteries, I also have been wishing for an Audible section devoted to cozies. Several of my audiobooks are buried in the "Modern Detective" category.

I also sent the suggestion to greatideas@audible.com. Maybe they will create the new sub-category if enough people ask for it.

Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hey everyone!

Adding a Cozy Mystery category under the Mystery & Thriller genre is on our radar. We've heard a lot of feedback and we hope to add this category in the future!

Regarding your series concern, it's like a "catch 22". We think providing as many titles as we can even though some books in a series are missing is the best practice. This allows us to add missing titles to the series after publisher produces the missing titles.

If you have noticed certain titles in a series is out of order, we'd love to fix this for you. Please send the series link (on Audible) and the titles that are out of order to "social-support@audible.com".

Thanks!

Alan (alanmintaka) | 207 comments Hello,
I've been running across series links on Audible that show listings of unavailable books, even though books in the series can be found individually and are available.

I started reporting bad series links to Audible Customer Support back in August and September and at one point was told that there were some website glitches that would need fixing. Apparently a few series links have slipped through the cracks since then.

Here's an example, the first book in the "A Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn Mystery" series:

The Family Vault, by Charlotte Macleod

The link on this page for "A Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn Mystery" shows that all books in the series are unavailable.

Obviously The Family Vault is available. A search on the author's name shows that all of the rest of the books in the series are available too.

As far as I've seen, all of the series books also have the same bad series link.

You might want to tell the tech folks to make another sweep for such series links.

Unfortunately, because the links aren't actually broken - they just point to the wrong pages - an automated audit of the links won't do much good. Looks like it may take a lot of work to fix things.

Happy listening,
Alan Mintaka

I've sent these titles in to Audible requesting they fill out the series, but...

Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hello Alan,

Thank you for bringing this up to our attention. We tested this issue and only books 2, 4 and 5 are unavailable for purchase. Simply because we do not have an agreement with the provider for these specific books.

The rest of the series is available for purchase.

If you see them as unavailable for purchase, this may be an issue with your account. We would recommend re-entering your billing information, especially the billing address. Your billing address is the key information we use to determine whether a title is available to you or not.

If re-entering your billing address doesn't resolve this issue, can you email us at "social-support@audible.com"?

We will be happy to investigate this issue for you.

Thanks!

Hi,
The problem has gone away since I reported it yesterday. I didn't change anything as far as I know at this end, including anything in my audible profile, so why this happened in first place is probably moot now. What I do know is that when I reported the same issue last August, the support rep acknowledged the issue(s) and said that the website techs were looking into it.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to run tests on it. If I see it again I'll wait a few days before pushing the panic button.

Take care,

Sandi (sandikal) | 420 comments I'm sorry, but the redesigned website just keeps getting messier and messier. First, there was the problem earlier with the "Based on Your Past Purchases, We Think You'll Enjoy" section mostly showing books that were already in my Audible library. Now, when you click on "See all" for the New in Fiction or New in Nonfiction sections, it looks like the links lead to bestsellers rather than new releases in each category. The pages are dominated by recent daily deals.

One of the things I usually use Audible for is as an alternate to buying expensive ebook or hardback new releases. If I don't know what's new, I don't know what to buy.

message 549: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie | 4024 comments As long as we're complaining about website design... now that the lists of books other than best-sellers from Audible aren't listed with the author, these lists are mostly meaningless titles to me now. And when I'm on my computer (using a screen-reader for the visually impaired if that matters) I click on an item in a list and... nothing. I do get the full title, but still no author and it isn't a link to the book's page--why even bother? I check Audible daily for the Daily Deal--really enjoy that sale even though I already own every one of the titles that I would be interested in that have shown up, although that may be a function of my already having nearly 1600 books in My Library :D--but I don't bother scanning the rest of the home page because of the lack of information on it and imagine I'm missing out on lots of new books. Oh well...

message 550: by [deleted user] (new)

I would add, Audible, that when you send me an E-mail announcing my new credits, as you did tonight, I would prefer that you resume your previous practice of telling me how many credits you have added to my account - just so I can ensure that my records are accurate :)

Thanks in advance!
