Hi Fran!
Thank you for your suggestion. We have let the proper department know of your idea to include a feature to sort Wish Lists by the length of the audiobook.
If you have any other ideas, please send an email to greatideas@audible.com
I'd like to know why Audible no longer supports Blackberry. I have hundreds of dollars of books I can't listen to anymore. I had to buy an MP3 player and now will have a whole new learning curve and the added expense of having to buy another device to cart around. I'm not a happy camper right now!
Debra wrote: "I'd like to know why Audible no longer supports Blackberry. I have hundreds of dollars of books I can't listen to anymore. He who wins in the publishing wars is the one who makes apps for ALL devices . . . those device makers are cutting off their noses to spite their faces who fail to understand this . . .
As a Canadian, I used to be proud of RIM, a local star in this competitive market. Now their star has faded, and it's their own fault. No innovation, no consumer research, too much complacency.
It's my hunch that the problem lies with Amazon (i.e. Audible) throwing their weight around with hardball negotiating positions. Amazon's relations with Audible were fractious prior to Audible's capitulation. RIM is probably dealing with similar stuff.

So, it seems it's BB's fault for withdrawing from Audible. This is very perplexing and upsetting.
Does anyone else have trouble loading audiobooks into the Audible app from iTunes? This is probably an RTFM moment of mine, but I have some audiobooks I burned from CDs and I wish I could listen to them through the Audible app -- so much more usable than iTunes.I use the Audible app v2 on iPhone w/iOS6.
I am pretty sure that the Audible app only works with Audible downloads. I'm still using my iPod Nano to listen to books that I have on CD because I am too lazy to take the time to figure out how to get them onto my phone.
I use the Smart AudioBook app on my phone (Android) for books not from Audible. Works with MP3 and WMA formats.
They need to be marked as Audiobooks for the app to see them. I'm not sure if it requires them to be m4b format, or if just changing the Media Kind to Audiobook is sufficient.
Ever once in a while I run into an issue with a glitch in the audio download file from Audible playing on my Ipod classic- it freezes on my ipod. Audible deletes the download & replaces it with a fresh copy; I delete the first copy in itunes & ipod: replace it with the new download file. It doesn't work it freezes on my ipod in the same place; they end up giving my credit back. So, I'm wondering if I'd have the same issue with the same book but from say DownPour?? Since it's the same book, publisher etc... but would the audio file be different? I'm thinking the issue something to do with the ipod classic. Which I'm thinking there's tons of the classic ipod out there still. The book I'm having this issue with is newly released The Serpent's Tooth - Walt Longmire series - by Craig Johnson. I've listened to all of other books in the series without any issues.I thought I'd throw this out to the group to see if others have run into the same & possible work around. I listen to my audio books while driving to/from work.
Thanks!
Georgia
This may have been asked already, but I didn't want to go through 468 posts to find out.Audible is no longer recognizing that I have the Audible Manager installed on my PC, so I am unable to download any audiobooks at this time. I do not want to overwrite my current Audible Manager, as I do not want to lose all the audiobooks I have already installed.

We're sorry to heard that your audiobook keeps freezing on your iPod Classic. Please email social-support@audible.com from the email address associated with your Audible account, along with the audiobook that is having this issue, and we will look into this issue in greater detail.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Hey Diane,
When uninstalling or reinstalling Audible Manager, a prompt will appear asking if you want to remove all of you Audible audio files. By clicking on "No", you will still keep all of your downloaded content.
If you would like steps on how to do this or need any help, please email us as social-support@audible.com.
Also, sometimes when Software Verification is turned on within your Audible Account your browser might not recognize that Audible Manager is installed. If you need any help turning it off, please email us as well.

Dear Audible - I wish you could devote some programming time to improving the Search function. It is so finicky. I just now wanted to check out The Zimmerman Telegram from Barbara Tuchman: I typed in 'zimmerman', got no results; tried 'zimmerman telegram', still no results; finally, when I typed 'tuchman', I got a listing of her books, among which indeed is 'The Zimmerman Telegram'. I don't know if the Search function just can't manage lowercase instead of upper, or what, but it is most annoying, and rather far behind what people have become used to as far as Search functions these days.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Thank you, CatBookMom.
Thank you, CatBookMom.

I just tried the search again. This time I typed The Zimmerman; the system suggested 'the zimmerman telegram', and I accepted that. No results. None. With the Audible search function offering items in lower case, you would think that it could then search for them that way. Nope. Annoying.
And I seem to recall that you can't search for titles using quotes - which i find baffling,

We're sorry to hear that you are having trouble searching for "The Zimmerman Telegram". We looked into this and it turns out that the title includes an additional "N" at the end of "Zimmermann".
With that said, we have alerted our Metadata team that the title on the cover art is spelled differently from the title listed on Audible and Amazon and also addressed the issue of it not being searchable so that it can be fixed.
If you come across any other issues like this, please email social-support@audible.com as we will be able to help you out better there.

@catbookmom - I would recommend talking with someone through chat when you have an issue like that. I have done so in the past and usually wind up with a free credit out of the deal.
Audible.com wrote: "CatBookMom wrote: "Dear Audible - I wish you could devote some programming time to improving the Search function. It is so finicky. However, and I apologize for not having further examples, the Audible search function isn't as 'fuzzy', as accepting of near-but-not-quite search terms like this, as most of us have become used to these days. The function in particular doesn't deal well with searches all in lower case, or with the placement or lack of periods and spaces after authors' initials (eg., J D Robb, j a jance). I'd think most of us would expect a good result on using the author's last name all in lowercase, but the Search function isn't reliable about that.
At any rate, I'm sure that I am not alone in appreciating Audible's efforts to improve, and designating you as a special liaison for us avid audiobook fans, as we bring up particular and general problems like this one.
Angie wrote: "Did you see that this audiobook is on sale right now at Downpour for $4.95? ..."LOL. Yes, it was exactly because of the email I got advertising that deal that I was at Audible looking to read reviews. I don't usually skip a deal like this.
Joel wrote: "@catbookmom - I would recommend talking with someone through chat when you have an issue like that. I have done so in the past and usually wind up with a free credit out of the deal."Thank you. I may try that the next time I have such a problem.
Also, you (Audible) have mentioned the existence of a Why Not? button when search fails to reveal the title we are seeking. Pardon my ignorance, but where is that button?

Hey Jennifer!
We sincerely apologize for any miscommunication that has occurred. We currently do not have this feature available on our website but we have forwarded the idea to the proper department to be evaluated. There is a Why Not? button when a specific audiobook in a series is not available, but not when searching.
In the meantime, please email social-support@audible.com and let us know how/where you heard about this feature so we can look into this.
Happy Listening!
Ohhh, "in a SERIES". That's where my error comes from.
Thanks so much for clarifying :)

Today I bought the Kindle edition of Kerry Greenwood's Out of the Black Land, and wanted to check out the discounted Whispersync audiobook ($2.99). I clicked on the link in the box at the right side of the screen, just ONE click; imagine my dismay when I discovered that, instead of linking me to Audible and putting the book into my Cart, Amazon had used my Gift Card balance to go ahead and purchase the audiobook! I think this must be something quite new, because I've done Whispersync'd books like this in the last couple of weeks. I know that I can return the audiobook, with Audible's generous return policy, but quite frankly, I find this change to be most annoying. I liked being able to jump over to Audible and listen to the sample, read the reviews, and decide if I wanted the linked book right now or perhaps later.
This is the sort of lead-footed change - without any notice - that makes people dislike Amazon.
there are two buttons -- buy it now with one-click and buy at audible. i can see how it would be easy to hit the wrong one.
Joel wrote: "there are two buttons -- buy it now with one-click and buy at audible. i can see how it would be easy to hit the wrong one."OK, thanks, I might have missed that, but I really think there weren't two today. Even with a 'buy now with One-Click, there should be a confirmation button. Or so I think.
::A little steam is venting, now, thanks::
i have managed to purchase a few ebooks by mistake with one-click. i also accidentally bought a $40 audiobook on audible through the kindle app once.
now that i read your post more carefully, it also might be different for buying a whispersync book. i would test it but i don't think there are any on offer for me...
Joel wrote: "i have managed to purchase a few ebooks by mistake with one-click. i also accidentally bought a $40 audiobook on audible through the kindle app once."Thank you for your input. A $40 audiobook, Ouch! I hope you were able to get it returned, or at least a credit applied to it instead of cash. I don't have a SmartPhone, so I haven't yet struggled with the Kindle App.
I'd like to register a complaint about the Amazon reviews that are now appearing. They're usually unrelated to the audio book! Annoying.
I agree with both Catbookmom and Sandra aka Sleo. I also am fed up with the comments that are not about the audio book and I purchased an $.99 audiobook when I was used it taking you to audible. I usually put these goodies in my wish list and use some of the $10.00 credits they give you for buying 4 audiobooks in a month (special promo that runs).
I have another audible.com Whispersync question, two actually. For a pre-order book, if neither the Kindle version or Audible version lists "available for Whispersync", does that mean they won't be available for that, or it isn't listed until the book is released? If the later, would we get the Whispersync deal after a pre-order? My example is Doctor Sleep
My second question refers to a book that Amazon lists as available for Whispersync, but after first purchasing the Kindle version, the buying the audio book a day later on audible, my copy there isn't listed as Whispersync capable in my audible library, Hard Country
Thanks!
Joel wrote: "preference of what? you can click the headers to sort by title, author, price..."Basically I would like to put them in order of what I would like to purchase first to last.
Dee wrote: "So you want like a ranking system? I don't think so"Yup. Instead of sifting through my entire list each time I want to use a credit I would like to see the top things I want to buy first. I am sure this is not likely going to be available but it doesn't hurt to ask!
+1 for this suggestion. I am subscribed to a mail-order movie rental service. I rank movies in order of preference and (stock permitting) the movies are shipped to me in that order. When I return them, I get the next one(s) on the list.

I second this I have a huge wishlist because I am an addict lol, no, I add stuff I'm interested in at the time sometimes I'll go through it all (15+ pages) and wonder why the heck did I put that on there and cull it but it is still very unweildy. Maybe I'll have to make a new shelf here just for my audible wishlist and rank them here.
I have been mildly annoyed that the 3 for 2 sales haven't mentioned whether any of the titles are on my WL.
Dear wonderful people at Audible,
Thank you for everything you do to promote literacy in our world. Your customer service is exceptionally responsive, so I know you'll understand my problem.
On your iOS app, every section or segment is listed as a chapter in the table of contents. Instead of "Chapter X of Y" please tell us that we are listening to "Section / Segment X of Y". I am currently listening to a book with multiple short chapters within the same segment or section, which can be confusing, especially when I want to update my progress on GR.
Thanks in advance for your kind consideration of this humble request.

If you just mouse over the book on your Wish List, at the bottom of the pop-up window you'll find the length; no clicking needed. But you can't sort the WL by time.
