Confused about adding new editions

The wording is confusing, I agree. As it is, I thought that Goodreads' interface was bad and/or I was being stupid (which might put me off Goodreads if I was not persistent...).
Moloch's suggestion would still confuse me though - I'd look for a way that I could 'manually combine' the entry I just made myself (which I guess I don't actually have the power to do?).
Some instructions on how to request combination would be nice to see in an obvious place when adding a new edition - unless all the new editions are reviewed manually already, and all I really had to do was wait (in which case, some text saying that would be nice too).

You're right, you cannot combine editions because you're not a librarian (you can become one if you have more than 50 books and then apply): maybe the explanation could be
add a new edition (the actual link)
then below, maybe smaller font: (new editions have to be combined by librarians: if you're not a librarian, seek assistance in the Lib. Group)
Or something similar.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/69...
which has an ISBN number not corresponding to any of the editions that Goodreads knows about. I created a new entry for it with the "add a new edition" link on the editions page. It's successfully created this:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...
but it's not showing up as an edition of the original book, it appears to be a completely separate book. What have I done wrong? Can I fix it?
