Solved: I Hope Someone Can Help Me Figure Out the Title of This Book

I have been racking my brain trying to remember a book I read in the late 1980s (I was under 10 so I am assuming it was a children's book) - I'm pretty sure it was a sort of mystery but the only concrete thing I remember is that there was some ghost or spirit or something that would cause candles to burn blue when it was near and that was a sign to hightail it out of there because the entity was very hostile/violent. I think the primary setting was in some sort of mansion/estate and there might have been secret passages. I think the title was something along the lines of "The Bell, the Book and the Candle" but I haven't had any success at locating it so I'm probably wrong. Any suggestions?
