And welcome. I have found the old trial and error method best. Just plunge in and you will soon see the logic of all this. I've been at it only a week or so and have had gratifying results. See one of my books on Amazon and follow the links to profiles, discussions, etc. The fog will clear, I assure you.

Good luck with the swirling and whirling. You'll have fun!

Thank You Sig! I will dive in as you say.

With respect to tagging, take a look at this post on my blog and it will provide a lot of information explaining what the tag team is doing.

Wonder around some of the other parts of the blog for a few more ideas as well.
Good luck and fire away with any questions!

Todd,
Thank you for the tips. Before I actually post my book, I have one technical question regarding the actual content of my book. I quote various authors throughout the text always being careful to credit the source. I have one quote I want to use but it is copywrited. I have attempted to contact the author for permission to include the quote without success. So, my guess is, I will have to omit that quote unless there is another option that I don't know about.

I'm not expert on this but my uneducated assessment is similar to your own.
Perhaps someone else on the board has more experience on this one...

I was told that it really depends on the length and use of the quote. You can't take text from a copyrighted work if taking it diminishes the value of that work - you couldn't take the book's best bits, basically, as you'd diminish the need for someone to buy the other chap's book. A sentence, for example, would be fine... or two. A whole chapter would not.
The other thing is purpose of use. If you're agreeing with the fellow you quote then he's probably not going to mind you using a little quote. If you use his words in a negative manner he may be gunning for you afterwards... as you, again, diminish the value of his work. It's all about money at the end of the day.
Look up 'fair use' on the Internet, and there should be a fair amount of explanation about what is and isn't acceptable when using a quotation without acquiring permission.

Thanks, Gina. Sound advice. Fortunately, I received permission after my post so I'm off and running. I'm pretty much stoked about this whole thing.
I just joined this group. I am not conversant with any of the terms used such as "tag". Nor am I very savvy about how to even use this site. (OK, fine, I am an old fart) None the less, I have written a book I wish to market. Where can I go to learn your lingo from the ground up.
