Thank goodness!

Druva my logic is elder wand belongs to harry so one cannot kill the owner of wand with his wand

Megan Yes! That's what I thought. Voldemort had Lily's sacrifice in his blood, which was strong enough to bring back Harry if he chose.

when voldemort killed harry he's actually killing his self because harry is a horcrux

James I have a theory. Everyone says Voldemort killed the horcrux part of Harry and not Harry himself that's why he didn't die. Doesn't anyone remember that Horcruxes can't be destroyed by magic. So basically harry couldn't be killed by Voldemort or anyone for that matter and my theory is that Harry is still a horcrux and Voldemort can still return again.

ARif - Avada kedavra can destroy living horcrux.

Why harry not die??
1.he is the master of death.he become immortall.
Remember when dumbledore first met with tom riddle. He is old. And not getting die until the ressurrection stone belong to harry.
Albus Dumbledore upon his death, left Harry the first golden snitch he had caught. Dumbledore put enchanted writing on the snitch that could only be read when Harry touched it to his mouth. It read, "I open at the close". Dumbledore had also enchanted the Snitch to hold the Resurrection Stone inside of it, and it would only open for Harry once he accepted the fact that he needed to "sacrifice himself" in order to defeat Lord Voldemort.
2. Lily protection.

Sarwat Voldemort could not kill Harry Potter because he used the Elder Wand to kill HP. Unbeknownst to both Voldi and Harry, Harry was the true master of the Elder Wand, having disarmed Draco, the former master, in the fight at Malfoy Manor. An Elder Wand cannot turn or kill its true master until and unless the master was disarmed, stunned or killed by someone else. This is why, in the Forbidden Forest, when Voldemort tried to kill Harry, the Elder Wand killed the parasite living inside Harry (Voldemort's Horcrux) but not Harry himself.

Gabby Flanders My opinion is that harry didn't die because when voldemort cast the spell on him,it just killed the horcrux part of harry, and not harry himself.

JLynne I find it funny that after all this time, no one can really pinpoint how Harry returned to the mortal world.

Perhaps JK meant to be that way. After all, Harry won. And that's all that matters.🙂

el I think his mother still loved him and Ginny, Hermione, and of course Ron. He had so much love and feelings that Voldemort could never have. Plus, who hates Harry

Courtney Usha wrote: "No, The protective charm on harry cast due to lily's love was no longer effective in protecting harry from Voldemort since the goblet of fire, when Voldemort was resurrected from Harry's blood. Why ..."

Except Harry didn't have the Elder Wand yet, so that doesn't work.

Mal deleted user wrote: "Okay, so we know that when Voldemort tried to kill Harry the first time in Godrick's Hollow, he failed because of the love that his mother protected him with. But when he used Avada Kedavra the sec..."

To my understanding the love protecting Harry was ineffective ever sense Goblet of Fire because the blood Voldemort used from Harry. He didn't die because he mastered the deathly hallows: The stone, the wand, and the cloak. He lived only because he chose to at kings cross, the part of Voldemorts soul on the other hand was not protected and died

Kevin Meyers The reason why harry potter didn't die is because harrys real mother loved him so much so she didn't want him to die so she died in the house fire which gave harry a vortex shield of voldermorts soul which hurt voldermorts instead of harry that is why harry didn't die because his mother died for him to live dumbledor even says it

Vienna Emma wrote: "*please note: I hope this is right. Someone correct me if it's not* The way I always think of it that makes it less confusing to me is like this:

I always thought about it the same way, except the horcrux WAS the gross shell. So if Voldemort tried to kill Harry it would just destroy the horcrux and leave Harry unharmed.

McKenzie Ray I thought that Dumbledore explained it, but this is what I've thought.
The part of Voldemort in Harry died only because Harry went towards death willingly.

eating acid the piece of Voldemort's soul acted as a shield for Harry's soul, so he was able to keep on living.

Mietta I seem to remember something about because Harry walked into the forest knowing he was going to die and when the time came, he didn't draw his wand, he couldn't die. In other words, he sacrificed himself and you couldn't die in a duel if you purposely never draw your wand.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read that in the last book.

❤Amy and Sofie❤ ok everyone knows he died ( not ) but why not!

craigalovania Harry didn't die for a simple reason: Plot Armor.
Plot Armor is a metaphor for a characters immunity to permanent death. Often some form of deus ex machina saves them from certain doom. J.K. Rowling would not kill off Harry, because it kills the final battle of the prophecy that the ENTIRE BOOK has been leading up to.

If you were here for an answer that had to do with the physics of magic, look lower down.
