Lynne Stringer A book with no thought? I tend to disagree. At the Twilight forums I have visited I have been involved in many indepth conversations about the sanctity of life, whether vampires have an afterlife, what is a soul, if it exists, whether or not Bella was justified in giving up her human life, whether the Cullens are eternally damned just because they're vampires, etc. I guess, as with everything, if you want to find something in it, you will. If you don't or it doesn't connect with you, it will seem superficial.

Lynne Stringer Absolutely. You can have those conversations about vampires generally. But Twilight gave a perspective on vampires who don't kill humans (not sure how many other books/movies cover that angle) and who, like Carlisle for instance, spend their lives trying to make up for what vampires do (that's one of the reasons Carlisle became a doctor). So that creates another interesting angle for exploration.

Yes, you can find meaning in a loaf of bread. A loaf of bread is not a thoughtless thing. In fact, I think very few things don't have an element for thought or discussion somewhere. But I think Twilight has more than average.

Cury Depressing

With all the descriptions of the rain, the gray skies, etc. and when Bella kept on and on whining and wanting to die and have those near death experiences so she could see Edward, well...Depressing!

Yes, it does.

We do get a background story for the main characters too. We know where Bella has come from when she moves to town and see her interact with her mother and father. We also hear Edward's story and the subtext of New Moon is Edward's loathing of himself as a vampire, which is why he leaves. A lot of it's hidden behind the love story, but it's there.

Meredith Gale Shit:

The first book I have ever read that I feel does not deserve to be read. This book is complete and utter garbage that should not be read by anyone. It is full of abusive, unhealthy relationships, with despicable characters, disgusting lore, and vampires lamer that the count from Sesame Street. The story is utter rubbish and the writing itself is nothing spectacular. In all, it's a long, drawn out shitfest of a teenage fanfiction that somehow got itself published.

Couldn't stand with all the kissing. If Ms Mayer left it at book one, I think it would be loved by everyone, but noooooooo--there should be more kissing and sexual tension. Such a waste.
