Genre: Organized crime VS. Loving family, Murder mys. The Great Depression

THE RECIPE

Book Description:

Life and violence of the Mafia during the rough times in Brooklyn, New York. It is a journey through the Italian culture from 1920 to the present day. The story begins with the challenging years during The Great Depression...

After the brutal murders of Sal and Anna Santorini, their son, Joey, moves in with the Leonardo Bonino family, where he is treated like a member of the family. Leo's own son, Frankie becomes inseparable with Joey as 'brothers' watching the other's back.
Trouble starts when a man, who calls himself Whitey, demands protection money from Leo's shoe shop. Leo knew the larger, more profitable businesses were expected to pay insurance against accidents but until Whitey, the smaller business had been left alone. Determined not to pay, Leo and his sons come up with a plan.

With the help from a new Brooklyn Mafia family, Frankie Bonino comes to respect the cunning moves of the new boss. Illegal or not, he becomes embroiled in the methods of revenge and thinking. From his father's teachings to the methods learned from this Mafia boss, Frankie finds his way of life.
