I've always wanted a talking sword. It would be my bloodthirsty best friend, and when it gets on my nerves I could threaten to melt it down and have it re-forged into a bike chain or something.
It was implied. Otherwise, how would it learn English? Magic would give it the ability to speak, but it would also need the ability to hear in order to utilize that power to any extent.
Really? I never understood how that works. How would you know what sounds to make if you've never heard them before?
