We return back to Faust. He now laments the fate which has befallen Margaret and tries to place the blame of it upon Mephistopheles acting as if he himself had been victim and deceived by Mephistopheles while ignorning the fact that he was willing enough to turn to Mpeshsposlies help in order to obtain what he wanted. He tries to aviod now taking resposbsioslity to his own actions and does not want to acknolwdge his own guilt.
