Erin | 44 comments August helped Emma break the curse because he promised his father he would, and it was the only way for him to have his father remember him. I don't think he realized he would turn back into wood.

I don't think Emma is Wendy, but that's only because I think she's Alice (because of references the writers made in the season 1 commentary).

And someone on facebook pointed out that in 'On The Road' the character of Dean Moriarty (who is called "the Peter Pan of our time", apparently) was based on a real person named Neal Cassady (Bae's real world name).

message 52: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments Oh! I hadn't heard that Emma is Alice! That's cool. Something else to watch.

RIGHT! I forgot about how his dad put him in the tree and made him promise. I think I need a Season 1 recap or something!

message 53: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments Ugh! This last episode was so frustrating! Could their morality get anymore trite and simplistic. Cora all but quoted Spaceballs, "So you see, Lonestar, evil will always win because good is dumb."

Emma as Alice is interesting, she did kind of go down the rabbit hole, but I always assumed she was the Swan Princess.

message 54: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments I don't actually remember what the Swan Princess was about. Emma as Alice made more sense season 1 then this season. And Snow and Cora...that's just irrating me. You can be good without believing some batcrap crazy evil witch can change. there's a differnce between Good and Naive.

message 55: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments Yes! Thank you!

message 56: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments I've never heard of the Swan Princess either. I read somewhere (maybe Facebook) that she is the ugly duckling... Maybe they'll clear that up, too. She hasn't actually gone to Wonderland yet, right?

message 57: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments No, I don't think anyone has gone to Wonderland since before the curse

message 58: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments The Swan Princess was a 1994 animated movie based on Swan Lake.

message 59: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Love the Swan Princess, "How to offend women in five syllables or less."

I've always gone on the assumption that Emma is not a fairy tale character, but I like the idea of Alice.

message 60: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments I just feel like the name Swan can't have been plucked out of the ethos at random given how many fairy tales involve swans (The Swan Princess, Swan Lake, The Children of Lir, The Bonny Swans, The Ugly Duckling, etc).

message 61: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Shannon wrote: "I just feel like the name Swan can't have been plucked out of the ethos at random given how many fairy tales involve swans (The Swan Princess, Swan Lake, The Children of Lir, The Bonny Swans, The U..."

Okay, I was wondering where you were getting swan princess from. I have been wondering how she got her last name.

message 62: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments Am I the only one who knows The Swan Princess existed? It was popular. Not Disney popular, but certainly known.

message 63: by Erin (last edited Mar 06, 2013 04:10PM) (new)

Erin | 44 comments I knew of it, but I've never seen it. And it would be awesome if it was related to the Children of Lir, but I highly doubt it since it's not Disney related

message 64: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments I doubt it too. I brought it up because swans seem to be a common figure in fairy tales, so I'm certain her name has some reasoning behind it.

message 65: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stoolfire Mrs. Patmore from Downton Abbey on Once Upon A Time! I'll admit it and say I was looking for Daisy and all the rest! :D

message 66: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments I really wish they would focus on the characters they introduced us to in season one. I feel that there are way too many new characters. There are so many great characters from season one that we've hardly seen or haven't seen at all this season. I am anxious to see who the fiancé really is. There is no way she is just a regular person who hooked up with Owen and is now after magic.

message 67: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments I agree, she has to be someone. Or the daughter of someone. It's getting a little soap opera-y

message 68: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments It is getting like a soap opera!

message 69: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments Yeah, Snow needs to get over herself. You killed an evil sociopath who murdered your mother, Daniel, and probably thousands of others. That's about as unmorally ambiguous as it gets.

message 70: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments Seriously. Instead of moping around you say "I saved lives doing this, and I won't let it change me". You don't mope in bed like some helpless wuss

message 71: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments Seriously, they're from a medieval-esque world in the midst of a 20+ year ogre war. Who hasn't killed someone? This is not even worth losing sleep to PTSD, let alone lying in bed and lamenting your blackened soul.

message 72: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments I'm pretty sure she's killed guards and soldiers before too. Does it only blacken your soul if you know their name? *rolls eyes*

message 73: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments Well, there goes my "Emma is Alice" theory: http://once-storybrooke.net/2013/03/o...

What do you guys think of this?

message 74: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments I always liked that Once Upon a Time was kind of weird and appealed to a particularly quirky audience with a (at least small) background in fairy tales. I'm a little sad about the spin-off because now it just feels like another "oh this makes a lot of money!" show... Also... I am weary of the "Oh, poor Alice, she's so crazy she makes stuff up and went crazy" theories. The show needs more time in the homelands... less time trying to tell us how screwed up everyone is. /endrant :)

message 75: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments I'm fine with screwed up people and if they wanted to look at PTSD in fairy tale characters that would be fascinating, but Snow's whiny little tantrum is more annoying than Avatar Aang's mental breakdown because he couldn't kill the Firelord.

message 76: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments And you make an excellent point. She has totally killed people before. They didn't backstories though, so her heart was unblackened.

message 77: by Ash (new)

Ash Mill (ashmill) | 43 comments I cant believe that they turned August back to a boy also how did cora get dethroned I mean she was still queen when Regina was born what happened why was snow mother queen in the end

message 78: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments I am also curious to learn how Cora lost the throne. I want to know more about the book. Who wrote the book and how did Snow get it? August could not have brought it with him and I don't think he wrote it because he was just a child when he came to our world.

message 79: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments I'm mad about August too! I'm wondering if they felt like they had more characters than they could handle and were trying to get rid of some without killing anyone off. But when he was talking to Snow he asked if Emma and Neil were back together and it sounded like he was intereted in Emma. Why bring that up if you're going to make him 10 again 20 minutes later. And I don't think Cora was Queen, she told Rumple she was 5th in line for the throne, but Regina could still be Queen later if the right people died off

message 80: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments I do not agree with August becoming a little boy. There is so much of his story that we don't know. I think he was asking if Emma and Niel were together because he feels they are meant to be together and he possible feels a little guilty about having a role in their breakup

message 81: by Ash (new)

Ash Mill (ashmill) | 43 comments I agree with holly I think he asked because he wanted to right the wrong he did when he broke those two up and emma went to jail. I didnt know that cora was 5th in line I thought she would be next sine she married prince henry the kings son

message 82: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments I think she did say 5th. Maybe Henry has older brothers.

message 83: by Ash (new)

Ash Mill (ashmill) | 43 comments yeah thats possible

message 84: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments What did you guys think of Sunday's episode? I liked Lacy, but I still want Belle to come back. Belle brings out the best in Rump/Gold and Lacy brings out the worst in him. I wonder what the writers plans are with Lacy/Belle

message 85: by Ash (new)

Ash Mill (ashmill) | 43 comments I agree with holly I'm worried for rumple if lacey bring out the bad in him then there is a good chance that every1 will turn on him even belfire. speaking of which who the evil fiance supposed to be and what do her and that other guy are planning to do, and then theres hook to consider. .....

message 86: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments I am also wondering who his fiancé is. She can't just be some regular person who believes in magic, she must have some connection to the town or the enchanted forest. I can definitely see everybody turning on Gold. He is one of my favorite characters on the show. I love watching his struggle with the good and bad within himself.

message 87: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments I think they have to leave Belle as Lacey at least for a while. Without Cora we need an anti-hero and Rumple is the best fit for that.

I wondered if the fiance might be Tinkerbell? In Peter Pan Tink was jealous of Peter Pan and Wendy's friendship. I can't figure out how Peter Pan wouldn't know that it was her if they were best buds in Neverland...

message 88: by Ash (new)

Ash Mill (ashmill) | 43 comments but also you guys are forgetting that there are 2 more episode until the season finale how much can happen in the time span · ·
~

message 89: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments I would like to learn more about Neverland. Maybe that will be explored in season three. I'm sure there will be a lot of unanswered questions when they end the season. There are only two more episodes so I wonder how they are going to leave it. Something big I'm guessing. Maybe they will kill off a character...

message 90: by Erin (new)

Erin | 44 comments It looks like they've cast Ariel (Little Mermaid). Maybe she's one of the mermaids in Neverland?

And is anyone planning on watching Once Upon a Time in Wonderland? I think I'll give it a try, but I'm pretty skeptical about spinoffs

message 91: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments Tinker Bell, too! http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live... I think this Neverland adventure is a fun idea.

I'm not sure about Wonderland... I loved the Hatter but I feel weird about watching practically the same show twice in a week.

message 92: by Laurel (last edited Aug 18, 2013 10:58AM) (new)

Laurel Rockefeller (laurelarockefeller) I have to watch Once Upon A Time on abc.com due to geography blocking all channels except NBC. anyone know when either/both Once Upon a Time are scheduled to begin and what days/time they air?

message 93: by Holly (new)

Holly | 8 comments I think season three is airing the last Sunday in September or something like that. I will give Wonderland a chance but I don't have much hope that it will be good. I can't for season three! I'm excited to see how they are going to get along on the ship and I want to learn more about Neverland.

message 94: by Robyn (last edited Aug 22, 2013 11:40AM) (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments Wonderland is 10/10 and OUAT is 9/29 both at 8:00 ET. Alice in Wonderland is absolutely one of my most favorite stories ever so I hope it's good! My husband is going to be so devasted that I'm taking up the TV time twice a week for htis stuff. HA.

message 95: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Rockefeller (laurelarockefeller) Hope I can keep up with both. It's harder when you have to watch the shows online.

message 96: by Lynne (new)

Lynne | 2 comments I just finished catching up with this series yesterday. I stopped watching it part way through season 2 but picked up again in season 3 and I'm so glad I did. Can't wait for season 4 to start up again.

message 97: by Arielle Rae (new)

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 34 comments Have you guys heard? They're going to include Elsa and Anna from Frozen

message 98: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (frejafolkvangar) | 107 comments Wait do you know they're going to have them or are you just going off of the teaser/season finale? Because Once Upon a Time changes things (as one should with oral folk tales), so an Ice Queen Elsa doesn't necessarily mean Anna or that it's the Elsa we know. After all, the story Frozen's based on is drastically different.

message 99: by Arielle Rae (last edited May 17, 2014 12:20AM) (new)

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 34 comments The only thing I'm sure of is that Anna is going to be there as well, because of these posters:

message 100: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (seawitchrecovers) | 50 comments I haven't seen Frozen (gasp!!!) and was quite surprised after watching the end of the episode. I had to look it up. I wondered if maybe it was the ice queen from Narnia. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed! The season was great. I love the "grayness" that surrounds the characters, especially Rumple, in regards to their "goodness".
