Not to burst everyone's bubbles, but I really don't think they do.
I don't remember the line, but there was something after that cemented in my mind that as much as we saw was as far as they went. Which was already incredibly intimate for both of them.

Think about their characters. Tris was appalled the first time she saw two people kissing in public. She doesn't take physical contact - especially romantic contact - lightly. It's how she was raised and while she has undergone alot of changes, she's still very much Abnegation at heart.

Tobias grew up with the same hesitation, times one hundred. Tris at least had a happy home, and still all she ever saw her parents do was hold hands a few times.
Tobias was wary of any contact at all, since up until he left home, most contact was bad.

Now, that particular scene could technically go either way, but I seriously doubt that the indication is that they had sex.

Simply because for both of them, that would have been a HUGE deal. There would have been plenty said about it afterward. But there isn't.
And I seriously doubt they would have taken the time to 'go there' in their relationship with everything else going on. It just doesn't fit their personalities. They're too mission minded.

I agree with Kristen that it definitely could go either way. On my first read through I thought they had, as it seemed to be implied. With everything they have been through to this point, I think their trust issues have been worked out. But how could there be no discussion of it the morning after?

I guess I'm still slightly leaning toward yes they did. I think Roth left it implied, because she needed to keep the plot moving quickly at that point, and couldn't spend a chapter or six running through the emotional ramifications of what happened.

yeah they did on the 3rd book..but the author didn't make it in full detailed maybe because she doesn't want to plant the seed of "S" on teenage readers mind...

they did not. i remember a particular chapter where tris thinks she's flat chested and pale and feels insecure about it. just as when tobias is about to lift off her shirt, she backs away.

In the 3rd book, I don't think they do, they just get a little...friendly...in chapter 5. Then again, it's been a while since I read that book

I think that is time for them NOT to have sex .. It's time TO MAKE LOVE ! It would be really nice if Veronica put in these book these elements of the love that makes u .. i can't describe it .I wish that Veronica could :) And I don't think that is there is some sex Veronica would ruin the book :) I can't wait to read it :)

actually they did have sex in the 3rd book on page 416 but veronica did not put the words we had sex no she wrote it in a way so we wouldnt think about it like that at first i didnt get it but then after reading the part a few times i got it

It's a YA book so she's not going to come right out and explain it. She made it very vague but you could tell it was there.

The movie doesn't accurately represent the book in a lot of ways.

No they did not do it. The whole scene was actually exaggerated in the film, so if you have not read the book, I have to say that it did not happen. Don't want to spoil Allegiant *SPOLER ALLERT!* they do not exactly do it, but it sort of happens.
