message 213: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) | 1594 comments Ever since I joined this buddy read I made myself stressed! This month is full of four books hahahahaha

message 214: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments hehe... I would say the same :) I have joined so many too. I still need to read Daughter of Smoke and Bones :D

message 215: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha ditto!

message 216: by Ally (new)

Ally (arhart) HAHA so many buddy reads! And yet I'm still so excited join all of them... is something wrong with me?!

I'm reading The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin on the 4th, but I'm willing to multitask as long as we take it a little slower for that or A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis . 11/12th for Burn for Burn (Burn for Burn, #1) by Jenny Han is great though!

message 217: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments If something is wrong with you, something is definitely wrong with me too :) I am still exhausted from the traveling, but I cannot wait to read these books :D

message 218: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) | 1594 comments i am so stressed with the books i need to read, and i just want to join more xD

message 219: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments Hmmm, I don't want to stress you out :) LOL

Um, I don't mind taking A Million Suns slower at all

but we could always pick a different day too! Is there a day that works better?? I'm pretty open! :D

message 220: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments I made the link for Burn for Burn

I'm booked (teehee, so punny) up until the 15th - so we can either set it back to the 15th or I'll just read two at a time. Whichever is best for you all!

message 222: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments I'm good with after the 15th. If we start burn for burn on the 12th, do you want to start this one...on th 17th maybe? That's a Monday.

message 223: by Ally (new)

Ally (arhart) 17th is perfect. Let's do that!

message 224: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments do you want to make the link?

or me? :)

message 225: by Ally (new)

Ally (arhart) Ooh I'll do it, I've never made a buddy read link before! Such a momentous occasion.

Here it is!

message 227: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) | 1594 comments So this might come off as a little rude, but my new pet peeve is people joining the buddy reads that already read the books. Can we make like a separate place to talk about books. The reason I joined buddy reading is so I can experience a book with someone at the same time. But I find that people join and keep saying "oh just wait" or "you'll love the next part". Like it really bothers me. If you haven't read the book and want to, then join the discussing. But if you have read it but want to talk about it, make a separate thread. Anyone else share my pain?

message 228: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments Hmmm, no, I like when others want to chat about the book and are excited that I'm reading it (and they want to chat as we go along). I don't really mind who joins in the discussion....I actually love more people where we are like stumbling over each other's comments because we are so excited....maybe that's just me though :)

but I wouldn't want them giving spoilers. I don't think that's nice....

message 229: by Gisbelle (last edited Nov 29, 2012 09:44PM) (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Oh Tayla... We have been doing buddy reads this way for like ever. It is not wrong to just say here comes the good part. That is not spoiler. Well, next time if you don't want people who have read to join your buddy reads, please mention in you post. I am sure they don't mean to spoil your fun.

message 230: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) I like when others get excited about a book I'm reading too. I don't know about anyone else, but the reason I joined most of the groups I'm in is because I love to discuss the books I've read, but I don't know many people who read and I know no one who likes to talk about books as much as I do, so these groups are like a dream come true to me. If someone is reading a book I've read (especially the ones I feel strongly about) then I like to hear their thoughts and compare. You're entitled to your own opinion, but personally I think it's a little unfair to ban people who've already read a book from a thread. Posting guidelines would probably keep everyone happy :)

message 231: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I agree with you Jalyn. As a moderator, I don't mind people go around talking about the books or joining a buddy reads even they have read already. As long as they don't post spoiler or inform before posting spoiler.

message 232: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) | 1594 comments See I knew it would come off mean. I didn't mean it to be like that... I just think it's called buddy reads for a reason, you read with your buddy.
I have read so many books, that my friends have already read and hated it because they couldn't relate to the in the moment things. It's like watching a movie with someone who already saw it, it's not that fun. But I guess I'm the only one who feels this way.
I was just really excited to have a place where people read something at the same time

message 233: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Like I said, next time if you don't want those who have read already to join, just mention it in your post.

message 234: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I would understand if there are spoilers being posted by the ones who have read already. But so far, I have never read any posts with spoilers. They (and I include) just post that they love the book or don't like it much...something like that. And believe me, I have read all the posts here.

message 235: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) | 1594 comments I know, and I don't mean to pick on anyone.
It just bothers me

message 236: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) I don't think it was mean. In my buddy reading experience, most comments will be from the people you're reading with, with a few past readers throwing in comments once in a while. And usually those comments have to do with what everyone else is taking about at the time. I don't usually see spoilers either. Most people put spoilers in (view spoiler) :) No matter what though, it's hard to keep even the first time readers taking about the same stuff because everyone reads at their own pace and what might take you an hour to read could take me half a day so you might not be able to talk about stuff at the same time either.

Psylk | 184 comments Hello All!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a buddy read for any of these five books?
Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant The Bar Code Tattoo (Bar Code, #1) by Suzanne Weyn Beta (Annex, #1) by Rachel Cohn
I have been meaning to start the series and now that I have a break from college starting Dec 12th - Jan 21st I plan to read as much as I can. Let me know!

I am not sure if I can start it soon or not because I have joined a lot of buddy read already. I'll let you know when I can start, alright?

Trisha | 30284 comments Robyn wrote: "Hello All!I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a buddy read for any of these five books?"

Dang, I just read The Bar Code Tattoo otherwise I would have loved to buddy read that one!

I would be interested in Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien & Beta (Annex, #1) by Rachel Cohn but it may take me a few weeks to get the books. I've requested them from my library. Are you able to wait?? Maybe 2nd or 3rd week in December?

message 240: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments If it's ok with Robyn, we can start Beta first :)

but I will get Birthmarked quicker (smaller wait list)

message 243: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I see. No problem. I don't plan to start it anytime soon either :) But I also have Birthmarked in my device. So maybe I can read with you also.

I could do a buddy read for both: The Bar Code Tattoo (Bar Code, #1) by Suzanne Weyn & Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien

Both seem interesting, im new to buddy reads though xD

message 245: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments So I think we can start Birthmarked since Trisha also has the book and I do as well :)

message 246: by Psylk (new)

Psylk | 184 comments Hey guys,
Sorry I disappeared for a bit. I am good with all that! I will make a post for Birthmarked first since three of us will be reading it and we can kind of decide when to start it.
I am also good with doing buddy reads on the other books you guys mentioned being willing to read but we can wait on those for a while if you want. I am in no hurry :) Just let me know.
Also if you guys have e-readers I can give any of the buddy readers a copy of any of those 5 books I mentioned. Just PM me.
