I loved that book. It's sad though that it was cancelled. Issue #9 is going to be the last issue of the series. I was really enjoying it and hate to see it go.

It's hard for me to do only trades because the single issues call out to me in the store and it's nice to see what's going on right away. The trades are nice however because you have five or six issues bound up in one book and it's convenient to pull it off the book shelf and read them that way. Either way there is far too much to choose from and far two few dollars to buy them with. :)

Kelly (xitomatl) I thought it was definitely time for an update since my pull list has changed:

The Bunker (Oni Press)
The Fade Out
Lazarus
Pretty Deadly
Saga
Serenity Leaves On the Wind
Sex Criminals
Sheltered
Trees
Velvet

I guess the biggest change was that I finally pulled The Walking Dead from my pull list. It started feeling more like a money-making operation (there were so many off-shoots and one shots, it got cumbersome), and I got really sick of the same-old story re-hashing itself over and over. I've been following it for years, so it kind of felt like cutting the ties with an old, old friend you just don't get along with anymore.

The people at my comic book store are great, so they stuck in a Wytches for me, but I haven't read it it. But I also want to give Roche Limit and Goners a try. Anybody read any of those three yet?

Kelly (xitomatl) Oh NO! That's a goddamned tragedy Chim. Is there another option somewhere around?

Lordy, I couldn't live without my monthlies.

Jodie | 5 comments Been a while so I thought I'd update. I dropped a few. I read non-superhero so here's my current pull:

Rachel Rising
Chew (*favorite!)
Saga
The Walking Dead
Trees
Lazarus
Wyches
Sex Criminals
Fade Out
Deadly Class
Afterlife with Archie (zombies)
The Spread

How are you feeling about Fade Out? I'm in LOVE. But I'm a huge noir/hard-boiled fanatic. Always have been.

How's the Walking Dead fairing these days? I just couldn't take the constant re-hashing anymore, and I'd been following it for so many years.

The great thing though is that it really re-emerged Image as an independent power house, so despite how I feel about where it's gone these days, I'll always be thankful for that.

Kelly (xitomatl) They're probably just really hopeful you'll buy something!

message 209: by Anna (Bananas) (new)

Anna (Bananas) | 757 comments My pull list had greatly diminished for several reasons - less time, less money, those single issues really stack up. But these are my golden 3.

Saga
Lazarus
Alex + Ada

Also, Scarlet if hell freezes over and another issue finally comes out.

Kelly, I'm trying The Fade Out. Excited about that one! Agree about Walking Dead making Image more formidable.

Oh you should be excited, it's WONDERFUL. It's everything I wanted Satellite Sam to be (but wasn't). But I mean, it's Brubaker, and I've never come across anything of his that wasn't stellar work.

message 211: by Anna (Bananas) (new)

Anna (Bananas) | 757 comments Chim, comfort is important. I know what you mean. I stopped shopping at one store when I found a friendlier one.

Kelly, I hope I like Fade. I could never get into Fatale for some reason and I really wanted to.

message 212: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (xitomatl) Brubaker I think is really expanding what he does with comics, and it's not necessarily a traditional way to portray a story in comic form - and I know him and Philips seem to be doing a lot more with really subtle things in the art that really impact the story (more so than anything else I've ever read). The Fade Out has elements of that, but it's a lot more of a straight noir narrative than Fatale, that's for sure.

Have you tried reading Fatale in trade form? I've heard a lot of people say they couldn't get into the singles, but the trades they really got into.

message 213: by Anna (Bananas) (new)

Anna (Bananas) | 757 comments I actually did get the trade. It kind of felt stiff to me and I don't like the femme fatale trope - so, yeah, probably should have known I might not dig it. But the plot sounds so unique. I'll probably give it another try eventually.

This reminds me of another comic I keep wanting to try, Rachel Rising. It seems like something I'd love but the art, uh, just doesn't draw me in.

Anna (Bananas) | 757 comments I love that you have pulls for your niece. :)

message 215: by Anna (Bananas) (last edited Jan 15, 2016 08:11PM) (new)

Anna (Bananas) | 757 comments I added Archie. That and Saga are my only two pulls right now. Trying to do trades for anything else I like.

message 216: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 12 comments My current pull list:

Astro City
Barb Wire
Bitch Planet
Black Canary
Black Magick
Black Widow
Captain Marvel
Codename: Baboushka
Copperhead
DC Comics Bombshells
Descender
Dream Police
Gotham Academy
Harley Quinn
Lazarus
Miss Fury
Ms. Marvel
Red Hood Arsenal (only because I'm a big Roy Harper fan)
Rocket Girl
Saga
Shutter
Spirit, The
Star-Lord
Starfire
Strange Fruit
Superzero
Surviving Megalopolis
Velvet

It will probably change once I see how many of DC's Rebirth titles I like. I'm also reading Grayson in trades.
