Honestly? I think it probably could. Think about all throughout history like how the Romans had gladiator battles. All they need is a sadistic twist and we'll be in the Hunger Games like Katniss and Peeta.

It's a disturbing thought, but you're probably absolutely correct. It may be hundreds of years from now, but someone crazy will come to power and-poof! The Hunger Games.
