Alexandra | 16 comments I have a copy of
"Religion in Victorian Britain: V, Culture and Empire" published by Manchester University Press, editor John Wolffe. ISBN 0719051843

I cannot add this to the database because this ISBN is listed as referring to
"Religion in Victorian Britain", published by St. Martin's Press, editor Gerald Parsons

I don't know how to treat this. I am reluctant to simply delete the Parsons version - because I cannot tell whether this is an error (arising from Parson's editorship of other books in this series), or whether the St. Martin's Press really published an earlier edition, with a different editor (since no publ. date was given.)
The description suggests that it belongs to the correct (i.e. 5th) volume in the series, even the the subtitle is not given.

However, how is an owner of this book, who does not search by IBSN, going to be able to find this book, when neither the subtitle or the current editor's name is given?

I am relatively new to this - how should such a situation be handled?

vicki_girl | 2764 comments Well, according to Google books, the volume was published by Manchester University Press, and distributed by St. Martin's press in the US and Canada.

Therefore, I would change the publisher to Manchester University Press.

As for the rest of the data, I would correct it to match your edition. No one else has shelved it yet, so you are not messing up anyone else book. We can always add another edition later if needed.
