I will start it next Friday. I am guessing it will likely count for one of the tasks in the next round, even if we don't know what they are until tomorrow!!

You know I don't even know the tasks yet. :) I mean I have made a list of 25 tasks and then promptly forgot them. So I will randomly choose 5, but I am positive that there will be a task where you can use this book for. It has so many similarities, but it is also totally different. It is definitely written with another target group in mind. But I still liked the book very much!

I'm waiting for that "read a book about a ghost" task! I hope there is one, because I now have 2 ghost stories on my TBR list where usually they don't interest me at all. :)

Technically where I am it is still the 21st. It is 23:20 here. I will try and post the tasks in a little while. Right now I am fighting to keep my eyes open for the BD sale and if I post the tasks now you will get really silly sleep deprived tasks.

The vampires are a secret society. So is the lesser society. Then there is also the sympaths.

Yip they are unaware of all the societies mentioned :)
And even the lesser society and sympaths are a bit secret from the vampires themselves.

Argh! Just realised that one of the novels I was planning to read in March has a curse! *rearranges reading schedule*. Can I finish a 700-page literary horror novel in 3 days?

If it's a really exciting read it could be great, but yeah chances are slim. I guess I could try finishing the word of the month instead.

Read the rules Lauren, there is a way to do this! You only have to read 351 pages in the next 3 days. If you're more than halfway in the book when the month ends you may finish it. On 4 March I will close this thread and by then you will have to be done with it. So it's not 3 days but 6-7. So you can do this!

Oh yeah, I can totally do that! Thanks for the tip! Clearly my loophole-seeking skills are not as extensive as I thought... You learn something new everyday :D

Well this is not a loophole but an actual rule. Maybe you were looking to hard for loopholes that you forgot about those. :P

Well, it's loophole-ish. Tasks set out their own rules, then we find ways around them, and this is sort of the same :)

For the sake of efficiency and to give myself a better chance at finishing, I decided to go with my original choice for the curse task - The Assassin's Curse by Cassandra Rose Clark. It's a lot shorter than the Joyce Carol Oates book I was going to read, and I can use it to finish the Word of the Month (I've completed 3 letters; it seems a waste not to do the 4th). I'm not really in the mood to read this, I'd much rather read the Oates, but hey, at least it'll be a quick read. THe things we do for reading challenges...

I know. I have some dreadfull reads and even a book I swore never to read on my to read list because of challenges. But then some times you're lucky and you have to read a book that is a gem you would never have read if not for challenges so it balances out. At least I hope it does.

Luckily this one's just a bit dull - a feisty heroine, a handsome but troubled guy, some adventure, some romance. The usual. It's decent, I'm more than halfway through already, and I'll be able to scratch one more review book off my list when I'm done, so at least reading it is productive :)
