Or if you want to loophole it. Just find a book you want to read, look
for a list it is on and then friend someone who voted on it ;-)

Well as a last resort! I had no problems with that one I had 107 pages of lists to choose from. It seems my goodreads friends are very into the the democratic process!
Lu has voted on the list: Best Books Ever. It has over 20,000 books on it. If you can't find a book on that list, there is something wrong with you. :)

I've had a look at some of the quotes and found quite a few that I really like, but cannot necessarily find the book they come from. Any chance we can read a bok by the author of the quote, but not necessarily the book it comes from?

Ignore this, I discovered it's a lot easier to search by author (of book you want to read in any case) and find a quote to match! Loophole for anybody else in need of one...

I did that too. Just went through the books I wanted to read and find one with a quote I liked in a category that is a passion of mine.
Me too. Sometimes I just browse through the quotes and there are some great ones out there.

The problem is that the great ones tend to be by Albert Einstein and Groucho Marx, etc. Oscar Wilde's plays tend to be shorter than 150 pages, so not exactly easy challenge fodder!

i don't think you have to change it. There are so many quotes that you should be able to find something that work - it may not be your favourite favourite, but it will meet the challenge criteria.

What I have enjoyed most about this challenge (so far) is discovering the goodreads blog. I never really payed any attention to it but know I am addicted, I love all their statistics etc.

A new round of nominations will start tomorrow (Monday). I won't be online to update until Tuesday or Wednesday, so just letting you know. Everyone can start nominating again from Midnight tonight. There are 8 tasks left.

Just kidding. :P
Sorry girls, I found a book I could use on my TBR shelf so I won't be using any loopholes for this task. So all deals are off. Maybe you two can make a deal with each other. :)
According to Goodreads their 3 most popular groups are Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy, The Sword and Laser and Boxall's 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die Choose one of these groups (you don't have to join) and read a book off their bookshelf.
You can find these groups by clicking on the Group heading and entering the group name into the search engine.

Go to You Profile. Just under your picture you will see stats like mine:
#25 best reviewers
#47 top users
#11 most followed
#14 top reviewers
#34 top librarians
(PS Lauren F and I know that these haven't been updated in a long time, but anyway)
Then you choose the one that you are the closest to being first.
You then choose the person that is 1 number lower that you (so I choose #10 most followed). Then you read 1 book that is on their To-Read List or Read List.

Go to Groups at the top of the page. In the right hand column of the page you will find "Groups Reading my To-Read books". Read one of the books. To complete the task tell us which group was reading the book and for which month they read it.

I just checked this and only have one of these listed. The problem is that the person one below me is 11 years old so I may have a battle on my hands to find a book that meets our criteria in length. Can I go 2 below?
What if a person has none of these stats?
Love the idea - never knew these existed!

Actually you have a problem. I checked your stats and you have to choose #2 top readers and the number 3 on that list has nothing on his/her to read list.
I thought I had it bad, because mine has mostly manga books on his/her to read list. I have actually a grand total of 5 books to choose from that aren't manga or part 2 (or higher) in a series.

I don't know how I am the second best reader in a
SA I thought you had to ready a book from the person above you on the list I'm obviously not that good a reader!
But hold on if that is the case then I can use the best reviewer list because surely the closest to being first is first! I thought the only reason we couldn't use it was because there had to be someone ahead of me.

@Lu: Ooh, I thought below you on the list was the person under you on the page. But you mean the one higher on the list. Oh that might increase the books I can read. :)
@Lauren: No, because then there wouldn't be someone higher on the list for you to use.

Oh see we are interpreting Lu's directions 2 different ways we need clarifications because I'm confused!
Yeah Lu, could you give us a concrete example with numbers etc? So we know what we are doing. Because I am also no longer sure which book I can read.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Guys read my nomination again I gave an example of what I should read and there you can see I talk about nr 10, I am number 11 on the list.
So just again for clarification, if you are number 3, read n umber 2's book. If you are nr 40, read nr 39's book :)
