Mock NaNoWriMo: Write-A-Thon!

Plus, that way, I get a sneak preview of the next work :-)
Sure Paul, it would be an honor to be your "challenge team buddy." Plus, I know I will have to write like a maniac to keep up with your prolific writing.

Incidentally, I have a technique for avoiding writer's block - those moments when you're tired, you've had a very trying day, and the last thing you want to do is start wrestling with disobedient characters.
Simply, stop one and a half sentences before the end of your writing session - you know what the one and a half sentences will be, you just don't write them. So you finish with an incomplete sentence - just one clause perhaps.
Then, when you start your next writing session, just resume where you left off. Write the other clause to finish the incomplete sentence, then write the next sentence (that was still held in your head).
By now, you are in full flow and on you charge!
Hmmm... I think that I'm going to shoot for 25k... Actually, I think that I might take advantage of the month and finish Invisible Peace. I only have chapter one and a little bit of chapter 2.
But if I reach 25k more than a week before the end of march, I'll make the goal 30k, or 35k, or 40k, respectively.

Hey Roni, outstanding commitment.
OK, I am going to go for 40k total words for the challenge. I really need to jumpstart the second book of my SOA series (I have been spending most of my writing time on another book, Arizona Knight).
Hey Paul, great idea...I personally never have writer's block, but I do have "editing anxiety." I can spend a full day on one paragraph. It is very annoying phobia. LOL

What the heck, I can sleep in April...oh, no, that's Script Frenzy month...OK, I can sleep in May.

Take a closer look at my picture - don't think the word lean really applies to me. Perhaps thirty years ago...

I think I'm going to go for... 25k, half of NanoWrimo. Then, if I achieve that, I'll go for 30, 35, etc.

About the buddy system: I'm one who doesn't post all of my writing up here (I only have some excerpts and some poetry), but I guess that I still wouldn't be comfortable with sharing all my writing with someone I don't know personally. Do you get what I'm saying?
Yeah. There are things that I write that are personal, and I don't really want to share them with others.
Or sometimes things that express who I REALLY am and what I really fell--I don't usually like sharing those with people either, particularly people that I'm not really close to.

I'm thinking of doing a 20 or 25k goal. I'm not sure yet. March is usually a pretty busy month. All my months are. But I'm hoping to finish/almost finish Reawakened Soul by then ... hmm ... well, I'll think about it.

Sure, Tink. I'd be honored. :)
I'll just have to mark the place I start my Write-A-Thon at so I know how much I've written.

I would be keeping up with RS anyway, so it's easy for me. :D

The first version will be awful - but don't worry; everyone's first version always is :]
It's when you come to edit it that you get to really shine!

ugh, yeah, me too. i might pick up one of the ones that i wrote three pages of and gave up on...

I have three stories that I can choose from...
Forever, In the Dark, or my fan-fiction: Ash-soul
Grr

im either going to do elf-shot, or gypsy... huh

I know what that's like - you have so many ideas fizzing around, and you need to work on one.
Well, you need to choose one and finish it. It doesn't matter that you chose the wrong one, and that you get bored with it, and you struggle...
It also doesn't matter that you get this really, really great idea while you're half way through the boring one - write down your great idea and carry on with the boring one till you've finished it.
Then look at all your stored ideas again - and choose the next one.
And so it goes...
Honestly, that is how most writers find life. The secret is to keep going till you've finished - because writing is a craft, a job, like anything else, and you have to finish what you've started - 'cos otherwise you're just cheating yourself.
I sound like a wise old git, don't I :]

Gah, stupid writer's block :'(
Like I said, I teared it out of my book and threw it out...

I have no idea
*says long stream of curses*
Sorry, I'm just very tired and I want to write, but idk what to write
and yes, you're all going to say 'WRITE MORE ZANE AND MAX' but in truth, I have NO idea what to write with them two

Maybe you should visit the prompts folder.

lol what i do is write something useless, like rps and such, and then at night, i get a really great idea. im so weird taht way...
Some people, like myself, do not post their stories online due to copyright issues and “first right publication” concerns.
So, I propose that we team-up with someone else who is taking the challenge, so that at the end of the challenge we can share stories to verify word counts.
It is just a thought :]
