I agree. This is my least favorite of Klassen's book covers. It almost made me not want to read it. I know the old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover," but seriously? Sometimes it'll make or break it.

Agreed. Many historical novels (romances especially)have covers that are terribly distracting and disappointing. Even more frustrating is when the description of the character in the book doesn't match the the picture on the front. Sometimes the woman's features look very modern, yet dressed in older costumes. Doesn't look right. I am reading Against the Tide by Elizabeth Camden right now and so happy the character on the cover has her back to the reader! Good luck, "gertt" - it will be hard to keep that promise!
