Recognise this, Kall?
I certainly do!I have also found a book with Pissarro's paintings of the Normandy coast which I may order...!!

What a terrific site, Fionnuala!
I just finished "In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower" (James Grieve transl. of "Within a Budding Grove"). Phew. It was slow reading, but rewarding! I consulted my Readers Guides by Terence Kilmartin, Milton Hindus, and Patrick Alexander, as well as Kapeles, "Paintings in Proust," which slowed my reading down, but gave me some keen insights. (I'm also brushing up on my French for another visit to France this Fall). Proust conjures up similar thoughts from my own experiences of young love, jealousy, social awkwardness, admiration of art and the beauties of nature. Marcel is a probing literary artist. His reflections on love and life stay with you! 2013 The Year of Reading Proust, challenged me (although I joined later) to pick up my Proust and read. Thanks!

I just finished In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower (J. Grieve, transl.) also using the helpful guides of Terene Kilmartin, Milton Hindus, and Patrick Alexander, along with "Paintings in Proust" by Karpeles, which slows down my reading, but provides me with helpful background and insight!

Marcelita...with all of your magical posts that add so much dimension & richness I am grateful that I could "fly" you back to Balbec.
Kalliope...I am slowly working at catching up...no problem...except I miss reading the current thread and keeping up with everyone.
Maybe in the next month or two my life will calm down and I'll have more room...one can always hope! ;-)
