I loooooooved Hollowland, so I was really excited to read this series, but I detested it! The characters were mostly flat and unlikable, the plot was nothing special, and just ugh overall. Buy all the reviews I've seen of it praise it to the high heavens. Anybody else agree with me?

are you kidding me i loved this series. she is one of my favorite authors and i absoulutely loved this series!i dont think that the books were bad. they all were amazing. i know that ya'll can have opinions but this was mine :)

The romance was so weird. Thought she would end up with the first guy and then bam, she ends up with another guy. I don't like those kind of romance.

I liked this series and hope to read hollowland soon.

I have read books written by GRRM and Brandon Sanderson, I have read Anne Rice, I have read Sidney Sheldon and Robert Jordan. What I am trying to say, is that I have read novels from top notch authors. I stumbled on this trilogy and enjoyed the hell out of them. The first YA series I have ever read, I did not read Twilight nor did I read Harry Potter. Anyone reading these posts......judge for yourself. Oh, I am 49, if you were wondering. This author is young, I can't wait to see what she writes as she gets older.

I loved the first one, I liked the second one, and I stopped reading the third one halfway through and nearly threw my kindle across the room in disgust.

I was so hacked off, I deleted the whole series off my kindle so I wouldn't even have to look at it.

Put it this way - anytime a character has to become a complete hypocrite to make a plot twist work....I'm gone.

HAHAHA LMAO! I agree with you all. although i just finished the trilogy. I must say the author could have just made a whole OK book. am i the only one who noticed how short this was? and i actually laughed with Wendy when Finn told her they were trolls. oh sorry. trylle. i mean.. i've read a lot of vamps, wares, angels even zombies and fey but hell! never trolls! so i thought yeah! why not hot trolls? but no. they should just NOT got together, Hot should never be used as an adj for trolls. EVER. unless the trolls are burning. all through out the trilogy it just felt wrong. and after the scene in the book where wendy and loki did the deed. I was astounded. not in a good way. She just got married!!! WTF is wrong with this woman?? i get that she luuurved loki and respected Tove. but if that is the way you respect someone , i am scared for their world. i do get that the idea was there. I like the ones about the changelings. Although.. the money thing. i was like. oh hell. really? that's you're angle? money? *sigh. too much hate is all i have.

When I started the series I was all for it was really exciting and everything but as soon as i read the second book I stopped the love triangle was starting to weaken the main character honestly was getting on my nerves, especially her love interests were ugh!! no words I couldnt even finish

The first book was okay. It kept me interested and I finished it pretty quickly. But I have no interest in continuing the series.

I think this book was okay. Just okay. I think the author had a good idea going. However, I think the writing was nothing spectacular. I haven't read any of Amanda Hocking's other books besides this series, but based on this alone, I would just say she needs some growth as an author.

Also, I do agree that this series came off flat sometimes. This next part is a spoiler. In the last book in the series (Ascend), when it really ended between Wendy and Finn it was so fake. Finn had these violent emotions, but they didn't even seem real. It just seemed like the author was having Finn yell at Wendy for sleeping with Loki just to get the point across that their relationship had really ended. But the whole scene was completely flat. It was a necessary scene, it just wasn't done well.

I also agree that the characters could be unlikeable at times. Wendy was such a pushover that I would get so mad at her. Who gets kidnapped and then gets guilty over over not following the flow and letting everyone down. I was like hello, they kidnapped you. Raise some hell! That whole bit was kind of unbelievable. Thats taking being a pushover to the extreme.

Anyways I would defend the idea behind this book. I liked the plot. If i came across a book with a similar plot I would read it. I just think the execution could use some work.

I found that the first book was very odd and the second book was getting even weirder in the beginning so i just stopped.

'Switched' took me four months to read...gorgeous cover (not this one shown) but Wendy was all over the place. Fab read for first twenty pages and the last 40 or so. In the middle...it didn't seem to known where it was going. I am afraid I didn't read Torn or Ascend!

It wasn't enough to make me want to throw it across the room but I didn't like it. It was okay. Everything was just weird.

I have to admit - most certainly not the best series I've ever read. There wasn't much of a plot throughout the series. I read it all though.
